Description
Homare Kagayaki is a second-year student at L'Avenir Academy projecting a mature, accomplished image through excellence in various activities, concealing deep-seated self-esteem issues. These stem from a childhood figure skating injury where a critical jump resulted in a significant fall, causing her to abandon the sport entirely due to lingering trauma and fear of failure. This psychological barrier manifests as hesitation during physical activities, like attempting a jump in a basketball game. Her life shifts upon meeting Hana Nono and Saaya Yakushiji, who identify her potential to become a Pretty Cure. Initially reluctant, Homare's protective instincts surface when she rescues a stray dog, Mogumogu, from an oncoming truck during a time stop. Witnessing the Cures reignites her desire to "fly," but her first attempt to claim her Mirai Crystal fails when fear resurfaces, causing her to fall short. Her despair nearly leads to capture by antagonist Charaleet, who exploits her trauma to create a powerful enemy. Facing imminent danger and encouraged by friends, she conquers her fear, successfully leaps for the Mirai Crystal, and transforms into Cure Étoile, the Pretty Cure of Strength, declaring "Making everyone shine! The Pretty Cure of Strength! Cure Étoile!".

As Cure Étoile, her appearance reflects newfound confidence: her hair grows longer into a ponytail with star-shaped clips and a blue flight attendant-style hat over an underlying tiara. Her costume is an orange mini-dress with a bubble skirt, a blue sash holding her PreHeart device, a cream-colored cape, star earrings, and blue thigh bands. Later evolutions include the Cheerful Style, adding a longer, puffier skirt, a translucent veil, and rainbow accents, and the Mother Heart Style granting butterfly-like wings. Her primary attack "Heart Star!" fires a yellow star projectile to weaken enemies. She participates in combination attacks like "Trinity Concert" with Cures Yell and Ange and "Star Slash" for defense, demonstrating her role as the embodiment of strength and resilience.

Beyond combat, Homare nurtures deep affection for Hariham Harry, struggling to confess due to shyness. Episodes 32 and 43 depict her learning Harry loves another (later revealed as Cure Tomorrow) and confessing despite rejection, ultimately supporting his goals selflessly. Her relationships include a close bond with childhood friend and former skating partner Henri Wakamiya, who knows her dual identity. She has a supportive family: mother Chitose Kagayaki, a crane operator, and grandparents. Homare retains a love for cute things like her rabbit doll, ice cream, and caring for Mogumogu. Her name "Kagayaki" combines "sparkling" and "tree," while "Homare" means "honor" or "reputation," collectively signifying "sparkling reputation." "Étoile," French for "star," aligns with her radiant persona and skating background.

In the 2030 epilogue, she achieves her dream of competitive figure skating, winning a major tournament, showcasing full reconciliation with her past trauma and the realization of her potential.
