Description
Hana Nono is a second-year middle school student at L'Avenir Academy, shorter than her peers with magenta eyes and wavy hair usually worn down, secured by green hair clips. An uneven self-cut fringe, done before transferring schools, gives her a distinct look. Her casual attire features a pink collared blouse layered over a crop top, a light blue skirt, light green socks, and pink sneakers; winter sees her in a white blouse and coat. As an adult, she has longer hair and wears flower earrings.

She transferred schools after defending a classmate, Eri, from bullies, an act leading to isolation and shaping her tendency to mask sadness with cheerfulness. Her family includes her father Shintarou, a department store manager, her mother Sumire, a reporter, her younger sister Kotori, and her grandmother Tanpopo, who owns a sweets shop. She later adopts Ruru Amour as a foster sister.

Using the PreHeart and Mirai Crystal, she transforms into Cure Yell. Her Cure form has light pink hair styled in buns with daisy accents, a pink midriff top with pom-pom wristbands, a pleated skirt, thigh-high socks, and pink boots. Her Cheerful Style transformation elongates her hair and adds a veil, while her Mother Heart Style manifests translucent butterfly wings. Her attacks are "Heart For You," firing a purification heart, and "Flower Shoot," deflecting attacks with petals.

Her personality blends energetic optimism and insecurity. She aspires to be a mature "cool adult" but often acts impulsively or childishly, resulting in mistakes. Despite her supportive nature and "Hooray, hooray!" catchphrase, she conceals self-doubt, particularly about perceived inadequacies compared to teammates. In Episode 10, a significant failure caused a temporary inability to transform until she regained her self-worth.

Key relationships define her journey: Hugtan, a baby who fell from the sky and calls her "mama," catalyzes her initial transformation. Hugtan is later revealed to be her future daughter, Hagumi, whose existence stems from an altered timeline. Teammates Saaya Yakushiji (Cure Ange) and Homare Kagayaki (Cure Etoile) rely on her for emotional support and reciprocate during her lows. Antagonist George Kurai is her future husband in the original timeline; his attempts to stop time to "protect" her stem from her implied tragic fate in that timeline, prevented by Hugtan's intervention.

Her development spans media: early episodes highlight her "Master of None" struggle, feeling overshadowed by Saaya's intellect and Homare's athleticism. Episode 23 reveals George's villainy and revisits her past bullying, triggering PTSD-like symptoms; her resolve strengthens upon recalling her mother's encouragement during that period. In *All Stars Memories*, she cares for teammates transformed into amnesiac babies, becoming overwhelmed by their distress and her powerlessness, leading to a brief breakdown before she perseveres, reinforcing her commitment to compassion over force. The series concludes with her adulthood in 2030: leading a boutique company, retaining her exuberance, and giving birth to Hagumi, fulfilling Hugtan's origin.

Etymologically, "Nono" (field/wild) and "Hana" (flower) form "wildflower," reflecting her resilient spirit. "Yell" signifies vocal encouragement, with French wordplay ("aile"/wing) noted in-series.
