Description
Pekorin is a pale pink dog-like fairy from the KiraKira☆Pretty Cure A La Mode series, serving as a mascot companion to the main characters. Her fluffy ears change color with her emotions: light blue for hunger, pink for happiness, yellow when feeling spoiled, green for fatigue, red for peevishness, and dark blue for sadness. She ends sentences with "~peko" and wears an apricot bib featuring crossed pale cream utensils.
Pekorin first meets Usami Ichika after failing to stop the Kirakiraru thief Gummy. Hungry, she asks Ichika for sweets but soon notices Ichika's distress over her absent mother. When Gummy attacks again, Pekorin tries to protect a piece of Ichika's cake but Gummy strikes her down. Her determination inspires Ichika to become Cure Whip and rescue her, forging their close bond. Pekorin frequently displays a strong passion for making sweets, though her efforts often meet mistakes or her own gluttony. She accidentally eats a donut during a trip to Ichigoyama's abandoned workshop, alerting the enemy Fueru and forcing the Cures to defend her. Her impulsiveness leads to mishaps, like pretending to be a dog to avoid human suspicion but carelessly meowing before correcting herself.
A significant development occurs when Lumière grants Pekorin the ability to transform into a human child. In this form, she assists more actively at the KIRAKIRA Patisserie, undertaking tasks like independent grocery shopping. However, stress causes temporary reversion, such as losing her money bag in a supermarket. She permanently sacrifices this human transformation to protect the Cures from Grave's enhanced attacks, channeling a burst of energy to repel him despite exhausting Lumière's power. Later, when the Cures lose their emotions and memories, Pekorin bakes donuts to rekindle their spirits. Grave attempts to incinerate these donuts, but Pekorin's resolve to protect them and her friends triggers a new transformation into Cure Pekorin, the Pretty Cure of Hunger and Sparkles. This form features donut-themed attire and a Candy Rod weapon, enabling her to fight alongside the other Cures. Her abilities include generating a giant kirakiraru donut to restrain enemies, notably used against Elisio and the Elder's giant form. She gains an À La Mode upgrade in episode 48, allowing independent flight.
