Description
Himari Arisugawa, a shy second-year middle school student plagued by social anxiety, hides an encyclopedic knowledge of sweets science, earning her the "Sweets Doctor" nickname. Though her passion for confectionery often leads to lengthy explanations, this tendency previously drove peers away, making her hesitant to share her expertise beyond trusted friends. Her life shifts dramatically upon meeting Ichika Usami during a pudding sale. Bonding over recreating a sold-out dessert, Himari's technical advice impresses Ichika. When the antagonist Pulupulu attacks, stealing the positive energy (Kirakiraru) from their creation, Himari's squirrel-shaped pudding transforms into an Animal Sweet and a Sweets Pact. This grants her the power to become Cure Custard, the yellow-themed Pretty Cure of intelligence and courage, embodying pudding and squirrels. Her transformation heralds the catchphrases "Sweets Are Science!" and "Let Me Explain!". As Cure Custard, she gains superhuman speed, sports orange hair in a curled side-tail, sprouts squirrel ears and tail, and dons a yellow dress adorned with pudding and cherry motifs.

Himari's journey focuses on conquering social fears through her dual identity. Early on, she falters during a KiraPati promotional video, blaming herself for low viewership. Witnessing a child's curiosity about churros, however, motivates her to share scientific insights simply, boosting her confidence. This newfound assertiveness unlocks her "Custard Illusion" defensive technique in battle. Later, assisting Tachibana Yuu, author of her cherished book "The Science of Sweets," in a televised sponge cake experiment, the cake collapses but Yuu praises her dedication. When Grave attacks, Cure Custard defiantly protects the audience's Kirakiraru, declaring her hard-won knowledge as strength. This growth culminates in her Animal Sweet evolving into a squirrel form.

Key relationships fuel her development. Ichika Usami ("Himarin"), her closest friend and fellow Cure, provides constant encouragement. Aoi Tategami becomes a trusted ally despite their contrasting personalities. Tachibana Yuu mentors her, validating her scientific approach and offering a lab assistant role that influences her future path. A significant test arises when classmates, noting her increased sociability, recommend her for a TV sweets program audition. Overwhelmed initially, she passionately critiques the production's superficial treatment of confectionery, echoing childhood dismissals of her expertise. Though producer pushback causes her withdrawal, it reinforces her commitment to authentic scientific communication over entertainment expectations.

Her surname "Arisugawa" coincidentally includes "risu" (squirrel), mirroring her motif, while "Himari" means "real sunny village." Her Cure name, Custard, references the dessert sauce paired with pudding. She is the first primary yellow Cure on her team and the only mainline Pretty Cure whose family background remains entirely undisclosed.

In the *Miracle Universe* film, she appears with the Kirakira☆Precure A La Mode team transported to space, participating in group battles against universal darkness and shielding allies in an ensemble role. The series epilogue reveals her future as a 20-year-old sweets researcher in a lab coat, continuing her scientific confectionery exploration alongside Ichika and Aoi.
