Description
Haruichi Kominato, Ryousuke Kominato's younger brother, attends Seidou High School as a second-year student. Born March 1 in Kanagawa Prefecture, he stands 164 cm tall and weighs 50 kg. His appearance features distinctive pink hair, initially styled with long bangs covering his eyes, which only become visible during intense moments like batting. In Act II, following the Komadai match, he cuts his front bangs, permanently revealing his pink eyes. His small stature and delicate features often lead others to mistake him for a girl.
He occupies second base for Seidou, forming part of the team's keystone duo. His baseball path is heavily influenced by his older brother Ryousuke, who previously held the same position. Their relationship is complex, marked by admiration and rivalry. Aiming to surpass Ryousuke, Haruichi adopts a wooden bat instead of the standard metal bat, believing its heavier, less forgiving nature will force him to develop greater skill and precision. Despite occasional strain, Haruichi deeply respects Ryousuke, recalling his brother protecting him from bullies during childhood.
Haruichi exhibits a calm, reserved demeanor, often serving as the straight man to his boisterous teammate Eijun Sawamura. He speaks bluntly and becomes easily flustered when praised. Though introverted, he displays strong ambition on the field and is highly observant of his teammates' strengths, frequently acknowledging pitchers Satoru Furuya and Sawamura, which inadvertently fuels their rivalry.
His baseball skills center on exceptional bat control and defensive agility. As a contact hitter, he excels at placing hits precisely and adjusting his swing mid-pitch. He holds the team's highest contact rating (5/5) and boasts impressive batting averages, including a perfect 1.000 during his first Summer Tournament as a pinch hitter and .512 in later games. Defensively, his quick reflexes enable throws while off-balance or mid-movement. His instincts allow strategic plays under pressure, like his critical hit, steal, and squeeze feint during the Fall Tournament final against Yakushi High.
Development across official media shows Haruichi starting as a reserve player and pinch hitter in his first year. He earns a permanent spot in the starting lineup by his second year, initially batting third (cleanup) due to the team's offensive need before moving to second. His growth involves addressing weaknesses like limited stamina and raw power, exacerbated by his small frame and wooden bat. After struggling with a metal bat during the Fall Tournament semifinals and facing challenges at Spring Senbatsu, he commits to improving swing speed through rigorous tee drills.
Haruichi shares close friendships with Sawamura and Furuya. Sawamura assigns him nicknames like "Harucchi," "Haruo," and "Harudanji." His hobbies include playing action-oriented video games, and his favorite food is cream stew.
