Description
Legato is a Festum piloting the Mark Ein Kai, nicknamed Specter, and appears identical to Michio Hino. He operates alongside fellow Festum Serenoa and Floro near a rocket launch site, protecting the area during preparation and launch sequences. In battle, Legato utilizes Specter's Super Dimensional Power (SDP) to mirror the appearance and abilities of opposing Fafners like Misao Kurusu's Chronos and Kouyou Kasugai's Abaddon, countering their attacks to buy time for allies.
His interactions with Soushi Minashiro reveal a protective yet conflicted dynamic. After defending the launch mission, Legato accompanies Soushi and others back to their base, discussing outside world observations and expressing concern about shielding Soushi from external dangers. During an island festival, Legato requests a candy apple from Soushi before Tatsumiyajima pilots attack to destroy the island. In the conflict, he confronts Kazuki Makabe and later Kouyou, vowing to destroy them next time before retreating at Serenoa's urging.
Legato's resentment toward Kazuki surfaces during a visit to Wadatsumijima, where he angrily questions Kazuki about erasing Floro. Kazuki explains their actions stem from external control, but Legato declares his inability to forgive Kazuki, promising to destroy him painlessly in their next encounter. This hostility culminates in an ocean battle where Legato attacks Kazuki to fulfill his promise and attempts to copy his strength. However, he is overwhelmed by Kazuki's transformation into the Mark Alles, experiencing intense fear and expressing a desire for others to share that terror.
In subsequent operations, Legato leads the Perseus team during an island assault and later focuses on battling Maya Toomi near Alvis' L-Boat by mirroring Azrael's power. He witnesses Soushi's evolution of Mark Nicht, which blows him away, and expresses concern for Maris' safety before encountering Mark Alles again. His development includes moments of vulnerability, such as sadness over failing to retrieve Soushi and fear after facing Mark Alles. No official media prior to or beyond *The Beyond* features Legato.
