Tasked with evaluating applicants aspiring to join their mentor’s tutelage, Shinato rigorously assesses their preparedness for Sainthood. Upon Shō’s arrival, he dismisses the boy’s petition, distrusting Saori Kido’s claim as Athena. This skepticism drives Shinato and Mirai to challenge Shō’s resolve, overwhelming him with relentless combat until he collapses repeatedly.

Undeterred by failure, Shō persists in scaling the treacherous slopes. Shinato watches his stubborn ascent, later witnessing the boy’s awakening and fervent vow to become a Saint to protect Kyōko. Shinato and Mirai then join Shō’s training, sharing meals where Shinato sternly corrects Mirai’s dismissive demeanor toward their guest.

Pressed about Mayura’s elusive methods, Shinato reveals her guidance transcends physical presence, aiding disciples across distances. He echoes her teachings, warning that desires twisted by unethical pursuit invite ruin. During a clash, Eris’s wrathful flora entraps Shinato and Mirai as they confront Shō. Helpless, they observe Mayura’s intervention to imprison Shō within the Eternal Rock—a plan foiled when Shō breaks the seal, leaving Shinato and others stunned.

Through these trials, Shinato remains anchored in his role as Mayura’s disciple, balancing dutiful oversight of trainees with navigating the moral intricacies woven into their sacred task.
