Description
Cornelia li Britannia, Second Princess of the Holy Britannian Empire, is the daughter of Emperor Charles zi Britannia and Imperial Consort Victoria. She shares a full-blooded younger sister, Euphemia li Britannia, and numerous half-siblings including Lelouch vi Britannia, Nunnally vi Britannia, and Clovis la Britannia. During childhood, Cornelia vigilantly guarded and doted on Euphemia while simultaneously idolizing her father's consort, Marianne vi Britannia. Serving as head of security for Marianne’s residence, Cornelia received direct orders from Marianne to deactivate palace defenses shortly before Marianne’s assassination—an event she investigated for years without success.

Renowned across Britannia as the "Goddess of Victory" for her military brilliance, Cornelia established Area 18 through decisive conquests before assuming the Viceroyalty of Area 11 after Clovis’s assassination. Her core missions became avenging Clovis and neutralizing the insurgent leader Zero, later revealed as Lelouch. Commanding elite units like the Glaston Knights and piloting a customized Gloucester Knightmare Frame, she frequently spearheaded frontline assaults. Cornelia harbored deep distrust toward Honorary Britannians and conquered populations, partly fueled by the presumed deaths of Lelouch, Nunnally, and Clovis in Japan.

Cornelia's character arc pivoted intensely around Euphemia. She reluctantly permitted Euphemia’s Special Administrative Zone of Japan initiative, assigning General Andreas Darlton as protection. Euphemia’s death during the SAZ massacre devastated Cornelia, triggering a period of seclusion followed by a relentless, vengeful pursuit of Zero. She nearly captured him during the Black Rebellion but suffered critical wounds inflicted by Darlton—under Lelouch’s Geass control—and was subsequently interrogated by Lelouch about Marianne’s murder. During this encounter, Lelouch revealed his identity as Zero and used his Geass to extract information, though Cornelia could only confirm Schneizel el Britannia’s involvement in removing Marianne’s body.

Following the Black Rebellion, Cornelia renounced her royal status to independently investigate Geass, determined to clear Euphemia’s name from the "Massacre Princess" stigma. She infiltrated the Geass Directorate, allied with defector General Bartley Asprius, and confronted the immortal V.V. (her uncle). Piloting a modified Akatsuki Knightmare, she damaged V.V.’s Siegfried during the Directorate assault, enabling Lelouch to deliver the final blow. Jeremiah Gottwald rescued her from the collapsing Siegfried, after which the Black Knights briefly detained her.

Escaping captivity, Cornelia aligned with Schneizel but fiercely opposed his extremism, particularly his plan to deploy the Damocles superweapon against global populations. Her attempt to thwart him resulted in her being shot and hospitalized. Recovering with Guilford’s support, she later commanded a resistance cell during Emperor Lelouch’s reign. After Lelouch’s assassination and the Zero Requiem, her faction aided in restoring order. She attended the wedding of Kaname Ohgi and Villetta Nu, symbolizing her evolution from imperial loyalist to a reform-oriented figure.

Personality-wise, Cornelia transformed from a cold, patriotic strategist who prioritized military efficiency over collateral damage into a rogue agent prioritizing personal loyalties and human life. Euphemia’s death catalyzed this shift, driving her to reject Schneizel’s ruthlessness and Britannia’s oppressive systems. Despite her formidable, ruthless exterior, she consistently demonstrated care for subordinates like Guilford and Darlton.
