Description
Pearl Fey belongs to the Fey clan's branch family as the daughter of Morgan Fey. Morgan lost her claim to become Kurain Master to her younger sister Misty Fey. Pearl served as a central figure in Morgan's schemes to reclaim the main family status, including plots targeting her cousin Maya Fey to clear Pearl's path to the Master title. Pearl is acknowledged as a prodigious spirit medium, wielding intense spiritual power surpassing Maya's despite being much younger. Her abilities encompass advanced channeling and forming spiritual communication networks, demonstrated when she repeatedly channeled Mia Fey to connect Maya and Phoenix Wright during Maya's kidnapping.

Raised solely in Kurain Village until meeting Phoenix Wright, Pearl possessed no knowledge of the outside world, leading to profound naivety regarding modern society and technology. She misunderstood basic concepts, calling trains "tray-ins," and once ran the entire distance from Kurain to the courthouse—a two-hour train journey—due to her ignorance of transportation. Her unstable childhood involved an absent father who departed shortly after her birth and witnessing multiple failed marriages in the village. This fostered her persistent belief in a romantic relationship between Phoenix Wright and Maya, whom she called Maya's "special someone."

Pearl first met Phoenix during the Turner Grey murder case. While playing in the Winding Way during a channeling, she accidentally shattered the Sacred Urn containing Ami Fey's spirit. Panicked, she glued it back incorrectly, spelling "I AM" instead of "AMI," and kept this secret fearing banishment. During the investigation, she discovered the Channeling Chamber key in an incinerator and later gave it to Phoenix upon realizing he was Maya's trusted ally. She also charged Phoenix's magatama with spiritual energy, introducing him to Psyche-Locks and demonstrating how to break them during their encounter with "Ini Miney."

Following Morgan's arrest for conspiring in Grey's murder and framing Maya, Pearl was left without immediate guardians. Phoenix and Maya assumed responsibility, introducing her to life outside Kurain, including visits to the Berry Big Circus. Her involvement continued when Maya was kidnapped by Shelly de Killer; Pearl partnered with Phoenix to investigate, using her channeling to establish a communication network. This required Maya channeling Mia to gather location details, which Pearl then relayed to Phoenix by channeling Mia herself—a feat showcasing her spiritual prowess.

Pearl's misunderstandings sometimes led to confrontations, such as physically attacking Phoenix after misinterpreting a grateful interaction between him and his client's wife as infidelity toward Maya. Her sheltered background also caused critical errors, notably at Hazakura Temple. Acting on imprisoned Morgan's instruction to "gravely roast the Master," Pearl misinterpreted "gravely" as "gravy" and covered a portrait of Misty Fey in gravy. This was part of Morgan's plot to manipulate Pearl into channeling Dahlia Hawthorne's vengeful spirit to kill Maya. Trapped after a bridge collapse, Pearl discovered Maya's disappearance and partially burned the incriminating instructions.

As a teenager, Pearl matured into a courteous and polite young woman while continuing her spiritual training. She aided Phoenix in investigations, such as recharging his magatama during the Shipshape Aquarium case. Her speech modernized somewhat, though she still struggled with technology and occasional word mispronunciations. Despite growth, she retained core traits like loyalty and a strong sense of justice, notably defending Maya from perceived threats like prosecutor Franziska von Karma, whom she once denounced as "nothing but a little girl without her whip."

Pearl's familial relationships are complex. She shares a close, sister-like bond with Maya and views Phoenix as a guardian. Her half-sisters, Dahlia Hawthorne and Iris Hawthorne, are linked through her unnamed father's remarriage. She harbors lingering resentment toward Morgan for her manipulations but exhibits conflicted loyalty, initially trying to prevent Morgan's arrest. Her broader connections include viewing Trucy Wright as a sister figure and forming an acquaintanceship with Miles Edgeworth, who adopts Phoenix's nickname "Pearls" for her.
