Description
Shien, son of Ancient Enma and a candidate for the Great King of the Yo-kai World, is driven by a distorted conviction that true kingship demands overwhelming power. To augment his strength, he conspires with the fox Yo-kai Tamamo, stealing the souls of one hundred women and girls while falsely claiming his father ordered it. This campaign causes tragedy in the human world, claiming the lives of Shin's mother and Itsuki's sister.
During the Enma Budokai tournament, Shien confronts Ancient Enma, who challenges his philosophy by declaring strength alone insufficient for kingship. Shien defeats his father, stabbing him and draining his energy. This patricide triggers Shien's corruption by the dark force "The Gloom" or "Soranaki Virus," mutating him into the massive, unstable Maou Shien (Devil King Shien). This towering purple liquid form fires red fireballs and embodies deep-seated hatred.
Maou Shien is ultimately defeated by Shin, Itsuki, Tae, and their Yo-kai allies. Itsuki, a spirit revived after dying to save his sister, locates Shien's soul among the absorbed grieving souls. Itsuki fuses his soul with Shien's, creating the entity Yasha Enma. This fused being sacrifices itself to defeat the greater threat known as the Overseer or Soranaki. Yasha Enma dies and reincarnates as Lord Enma (Kouen), who ascends the Yo-kai World throne.
After these events, the hex "Shadow History" (Kagerekishi) erases Shien from all records and memories, including those of the Enma clan and Zazel, resolving earlier contradictions about Enma's lineage. Decades into Lord Enma's reign, a child named Lucas is born in the Yo-kai World, revealed to carry Shien's "evil heart" – a soul fragment split upon Yasha Enma's death. To prevent its awakening, Lucas is sent to the human world with his demonic power sealed, living as an ordinary human.
Shien's legacy persists through his bloodline and soul fragments. His "good heart," fused with Itsuki, forms Lord Enma's core. His "evil heart" resides within Lucas, who develops a relatively well-adjusted personality despite this dark origin.
