Description
Lucia is a Roman Catholic nun and a member of the paramilitary group known as the Agnese Forces, which is led by Agnese Sanctis. She is a tall young woman with blonde hair and blue eyes, and she carries herself with a serious and stern demeanor. Despite her cold exterior, she is deeply loyal and devoted to her faith and her comrades. Little is known about her past, but her commitment to her duties is unwavering.
She first appears as an antagonist during the Orsola Aquinas incident, serving as the foil to her timid and bumbling partner, Angelene. Lucia is a capable and ruthless combatant, willing to go to extreme lengths to accomplish her mission. When Index uses the spell Sheol Fear to deafen and paralyze the battle nuns, Lucia brings in reinforcements who have intentionally stabbed their own ears to counteract the spell, demonstrating her tactical ruthlessness.
Lucia uses a large carriage wheel as the focus of her magic, an ability based on the legend of Saint Catherine of Alexandria. Her magic causes the wheel to explode, sending fragments and shockwaves flying at her opponents, making it a devastating area-of-effect weapon.
Over the course of the story, Lucia undergoes a reformation. Along with the rest of the Agnese Forces, she defects from the Roman Catholic Church's more extreme methods and joins Necessarius, the secret magical arm of the Church of England. She later becomes a representative of Roman Catholicism in England, indicating her continued adherence to her faith but within a more moderate framework.
Key relationships include her close partnership with Angelene, whom she often protects, and her loyalty to Agnese Sanctis. There is also a lighthearted moment when Agnese and Angelene, after overhearing a conversation about which women could capture Touma Kamijou's heart, decide that Lucia's bust size makes her the most capable in the Agnese Forces and try to convince her to wear an imp costume. Lucia firmly refuses, showing a more embarrassed and stubborn side.
Lucia's role in the story evolves from an antagonist to an ally, and she appears in both A Certain Magical Index II and A Certain Magical Index III as a supporting character. Her development reflects a shift from blind obedience to a more independent sense of justice, though she remains reserved and serious. Her notable ability is her wheel-based explosive magic, which she uses effectively in combat situations.
