Kurou began as a samurai leader in Kenashikourpe, opposing the imperial rebellion. His volatile youth featured unchecked aggression and violent outbursts, often leading him to attack or kill those provoking his anger. This trajectory shifted decisively when Benawi defeated him in combat. Intrigued by Benawi, Kurou joined him out of curiosity that solidified into genuine respect, transforming from an enemy combatant into Benawi’s loyal general within Tuskur’s military forces. Throughout the conflicts after Kenashikourpe’s emperor fell, Kurou maintained steadfast loyalty to Benawi. He continued as Benawi’s right-hand man when Benawi swore allegiance to Tuskur’s new ruler, Hakuowlo. In this capacity, Kurou engaged in military strategy, troop training, and frontline combat, frequently wielding a thick long sword with formidable skill. His combat prowess allowed him to overpower multiple adversaries unarmed, evidenced in battles against opponents like Kuon, Atuy, and Jachdwalt. Years later, during *Mask of Truth*, Kurou persisted as Benawi’s primary subordinate. He confronted Haku and Kuon in battle, recognizing Kuon as Hakuowlo’s daughter through her inheritance of Uitsualnemetia’s nation-destroying powers. He also disclosed prior familiarity with Kuon, having trained her in her youth. Kurou’s personality evolved from his violent origins into a calmer, no-nonsense demeanor, though he retained an easygoing disposition. He executed duties seriously yet remained battle-ready. His once-adversarial dynamic with Oboro matured into mutual respect, marked by frequent quarrels and teasing. These comedic exchanges, particularly with Oboro, injected levity into narratives alongside his focused military role. An OVA revealed an additional personal trait: Kurou’s attraction to young, petite girls, adding nuance without centrality to his core narrative.
