Description
Raiga Kudō is a 12-year-old boy sporting spiked red hair with an orange front tuft and green eyes. He typically wears a red and white shirt with a red collar, orange pants, white shoes, a yellow backpack, a wrist device, and a silver belt holding a tan pouch. As an Earth Granner pilot, he dons a red bodysuit featuring white sections on the legs and underarms, grey shoulder pieces and gloves, a gold chest emblem, and a red helmet with a translucent face visor.

Raiga charges through life with a cheerful, energetic, and hot-blooded personality, often displaying a one-track mind. His actions and decisions are strongly influenced by a deep affinity for animals, particularly lions. He deeply admires the famous racer Go Mach, unaware during their initial encounters of Mach's later identity as Granner G.

Raiga and his twin brother Kuga assist their mother at Jono Zoo. Chosen by the sentient vehicles Gao Granner Leo and Gao Granner Eagle during the alien Dark Spinner's invasion to harvest Earth Energy, the brothers become pilots for the defense group Earth Granner. Raiga partners with Leo as Granner R; his connection to animals is cited as the reason for his selection over candidates like Go Mach.

Mutual trust and understanding define Raiga's relationship with Kuga. Raiga firmly believes in his brother and intuitively comprehends his thoughts. He shares a dynamic bond with his partner, Gao Granner Leo, rooted in their similar hot-blooded and daring natures. His family includes parents Dr. Bariki Kudou and Madoka Kudou, and grandfather Manriki Kudou, who later develops the GT-R Tomica for him.

Raiga achieved the first Kizuna Gattai (bond combination) in Earth Granner, uniting Gao Granner Leo with Gao Granner Cheetah. He later gains the ability to initiate Type Changes using specialized Tomica die-cast vehicles: the Turbo Fire Tomica grants fire abilities, the Torque Rock Tomica provides earth abilities, and the GT-R Tomica significantly boosts power. Manriki engineered the GT-R Tomica as an emergency enhancement when other Gao Granners were damaged, though its initial instability limited use until refinements.

A significant story arc involves his conflict with Kakeru Kumaneko (Granner X), pilot of Gao Granner Saber. After initial struggles against Saber, Raiga persistently confronts Kakeru to understand his defection to Dark Spinner. He later refuses to activate Saber's emergency memory-wipe function during a rampage, empathizing with Kakeru and Saber's bond as akin to his own with Leo. This decision leads to Saber's retreat after Dark Energy extraction.

Raiga participates in global missions, investigating super-ancient space civilization ruins in China—where he encounters a lion-like entity from an older civilization—and the Pacific Ocean alongside Kuga and Granner G. When the alien mothership "Ō" threatens Earth, he and Kuga are unanimously selected for the Space Custom Project due to resource constraints. They embark on a final mission into space with their father and the mechanic Gyron to confront Dark Spinner directly, successfully destroying their Dark Energy source and forcing a retreat.
