Munechika is a character from the anime Utawarerumono: The False Faces. She is one of Yamato's Eight Pillar Generals, known by the title Munechika the Guardian, and she is a bearer of one of the vaunted Akuruka masks. She is the daughter of the viceroy of Izumo, Murasame the Guardian. In peacetime, she also serves as the governess and disciplinarian for Anju, the young princess of Yamato, whom she often finds herself being roped into mischief by.

Munechika is known for her strict and dutiful personality. She takes her responsibilities as a soldier and a caretaker very seriously. She is loyal to Yamato and committed to defending the capital, allowing no enemy to breach its defenses. In her role as Anju's governess, she is firm and does not hesitate to discipline the princess, such as by spanking her when she misbehaves. At the same time, Munechika strives to speak and act like a proper lady at all times, though her practical and capable nature as a warrior occasionally shows through. Despite her stern exterior, she is a devoted and principled individual who values order and duty.

Her primary motivation is the protection of Yamato and the fulfillment of her obligations as a Pillar General. She is also driven to properly raise and educate Anju, preparing her for future leadership. In the storyline, Munechika is one of the generals leading Yamato's invasion of Tuskur. When the invasion fails, she remains behind to allow her soldiers to retreat and is taken as a prisoner of war. She remains in Tuskur for some time but later returns to aid Anju and Oshtor at Rumoy Pass while escorting Fumirul, demonstrating her continued allegiance and willingness to fight for her nation even after her capture.

Munechika's most notable relationships are with Anju, whom she mentors and disciplines, and with her fellow Pillar Generals, such as Oshtor and Mikazuchi. Her interactions with Anju show a blend of strict authority and underlying care. Her development involves her transition from an invading general to a prisoner and then back to an ally, showcasing her resilience and unwavering sense of duty.

In terms of abilities, Munechika excels in defensive and siegebreaking tactics. Her title the Guardian reflects her prowess in protecting Yamato from barbarian hordes and organized military forces. As an Akuruka mask bearer, she has access to enhanced combat abilities, and she is a highly capable Mononofu, or warrior, skilled in both strategy and personal combat. Her physical appearance includes medium-length white hair, gray eyes, and animal ears typical of the beast-people in the world of Utawarerumono.
