Description
Hifumi Izanami, performing as GIGOLO, is a core member of the Shinjuku rap crew Matenro. By day, he reigns as the top host at the FRAGRANCE club in Shinjuku, commanding a high monthly income. However, he suffers from severe gynophobia, an intense fear of women rooted in traumatic high school events orchestrated by former friend Honobono Keitoin, who harmed his mother, sister, and Hifumi himself. This trauma triggers panic attacks during unprepared encounters with women.

To manage his phobia, Hifumi relies on auto-suggestion tied to a specific grey suit jacket. Wearing this jacket activates his "GIGOLO" persona—a polished, supremely confident host capable of interacting with female clients. Without it, his default "Hifumin" persona emerges: energetically cheerful but socially unaware, prone to bluntness, physical clinginess, and poor volume control. Around trusted friends, a third, calmer "Open Up" persona surfaces, reflecting his inherently nurturing yet vulnerable core. These are conscious adaptations to cope with self-identity conflicts, not dissociative identities.

He shares an apartment with childhood friend Doppo Kannonzaka, handling all domestic chores like cooking, cleaning, and mending Doppo's suits. His hobbies span indoor pursuits like sewing and crafting ships-in-bottles, to outdoor activities like fishing and camping, often with Matenro's leader, Jakurai Jinguji.

As a rapper, Hifumi wields a Hypnosis Mic that transforms into a diamond-encrusted device engraved with "GIGOLO" and featuring a disco ball windscreen. His ability, "Enchant," grants limited control over opponents by implanting hallucinatory yellow roses in their perception, redirecting attacks or triggering their own abilities. His speakers manifest as gold roses with spherical centers and a floating disco ball.

Hifumi's development centers on confronting his trauma. Initially avoiding women or depending on his jacket, recent events saw him face Honobono directly. During this encounter, his personas destabilized, leading to emotional collapse. Yet he reclaimed agency, transforming "Hi-Fu-Mi"—a cadence Honobono once weaponized—into his lyrical signature, symbolizing resilience. His journey focuses on self-redefinition beyond trauma, bolstered by his loyalty to Doppo and Jakurai.
