Description
Asbel Lhant, eldest son of Lord Aston Lhant, grew up in the border village of Lhant expecting to inherit his father's lordship. Yet, driven by a powerful desire to protect others, he harbored a deep-seated ambition to become a knight from childhood. His youth was rebellious and adventurous; he frequently explored beyond the village with his younger brother Hubert Lhant and childhood friend Cheria Barnes. During one such outing on Lhant Hill, Asbel and Hubert discovered an amnesiac girl in a flower field. They brought her to Lhant, naming her Sophie after the Sopheria flowers she loved. Prince Richard of Windor soon arrived in the village, forging a close friendship between Asbel, Sophie, Richard, Hubert, and Cheria. When an assassin targeted Richard, Asbel and Sophie intervened to save him. The group then secretly traveled to the capital, Barona, where a monstrous attack in the Barona Catacombs led Sophie to sacrifice herself to save the others. Devastated by guilt and feeling powerless, Asbel renounced his lordship and left for Barona to train as a knight. Hubert was politically adopted into the Strahtan Oswell family.

Seven years later, Asbel, now a disciplined knight-in-training under Malik Caesar, learned of his father's death during a Fendel invasion and returned to Lhant. He found Sophie alive but amnesiac. As Fendel renewed its attack, Hubert returned with Strahtan forces. Resentful over Asbel's abandonment, Hubert claimed the lordship and exiled him. Forced on a journey with Sophie and Cheria, Asbel reunited with Richard, who was fleeing a coup by his uncle Cedric. Asbel pledged to help Richard reclaim the throne, joined by Amarcian engineer Pascal. Richard displayed increasingly violent behavior, later revealed as possession by Lambda, a malevolent entity from another planet.

After Richard regained the throne, he betrayed Asbel, ordering an attack on Lhant. Confrontations exposed Lambda's full control. Sophie regained her memories, revealing she was an artificial being created on the planet Fodra to combat Lambda. To save Richard and stop Lambda's plan to absorb the planet's energy, the group traveled to Fodra. Encountering Emeraude, the last human survivor, she aided Sophie after Lambda mortally wounded her. In the planet's core, Asbel absorbed Lambda into his own body to prevent Sophie's sacrifice again. He convinced Lambda to cease destruction by demonstrating human compassion, leading the entity to enter dormancy within him.

Embracing his role as Lord of Lhant, Asbel reconciled with Hubert, strengthening their bond. His relationship with Cheria deepened, resulting in marriage. Together, they formally adopted Sophie into the Lhant family. Later, when Fodra's reactivated core threatened the world, Asbel and his allies intervened, persuading the dormant Lambda to absorb Fodra's hatred, restoring peace. These events solidified Asbel's growth from a headstrong youth into a responsible leader dedicated to protecting his family and territory.

Asbel exhibited unwavering loyalty and profound responsibility towards those he cared for, often struggling with guilt over perceived failures. His swordsmanship combined iaijutsu and elemental combat techniques. Key traits included a strong protective instinct, especially for Sophie and Hubert, and a tendency toward self-blame, which he gradually overcame. His left eye retained a purple hue after merging with Lambda, symbolizing their coexistence.
