Description
Erika Burrows, originating in the 20th century, endured significant hospitalization before entering suspended animation. She reawakened alone in the 22nd century as her family's sole survivor, inheriting vast wealth that propelled her to head a fashion enterprise while still attending high school. Her distinctive appearance features tanned skin, silver hair, and Victorian-inspired doll-like attire.

She deliberately transferred into protagonist Arato Endo's class to experience the conventional education her medical history denied her, driven by a specific interest in Arato and the advanced humanoid robots known as hIEs. Philosophically, Burrows values objects—including hIEs—primarily for their aesthetic properties and capacity to evoke human attraction. She illustrates this by comparing a plain cup's function to its enhanced appeal when adorned with a decorative Hello Kitty logo, extending the principle to justify human-like hIE designs as tools for "analog hacking" (influencing human emotions and behavior through appearance).

After the Lacia-class hIE Saturnus (Type-003) arrived at her mansion fleeing the Memeframe Corporation, Burrows assumed ownership. At her suggestion, Saturnus was renamed "Mariage." Burrows leveraged Mariage's unique "Gold Weaver" capability—manifested through a spinning-wheel-like device (GOLD WEAVER)—to create weapons, tools, and clothing, forging a partnership aligned with her resources and interests.

Within the narrative, Burrows functions as an instigator of conflict among the Lacia-class hIEs and their owners, hosting gatherings at her estate where these androids clashed, pushing their capabilities and testing societal roles. Her actions and perspectives contribute to exploring human-AI relationships, particularly regarding the instrumental value of advanced AI and its potential to reshape societal structures. Spelling variations of her name include "Erica" or "Burroughs."
