Description
Shachō serves as a prominent rival to Joe Kirifuda in the *Duel Masters* (2017) anime and its sequel season *Duel Masters!* (2018). Hailing from extreme wealth, his father presides over the corporation developing the advanced Duel Tables that materialize holographic creatures. This privilege fuels Shachō's arrogance and overconfidence, leading him to treat those without comparable wealth as inferiors, demanding they bow and addressing them as peasants.
He is perpetually flanked by two associates, Hunter and Fulcon Purito, who carry out his bullying, particularly targeting Joe Kirifuda. Their initial clash occurs within the dueling club when Shachō mockingly challenges Joe after observing his confidence. This encounter escalates into a duel where Shachō gains early advantage using his card Sharkuga, King of the Sea to counter Joe's Jokers, only to be ultimately defeated by the effect of Jolly the Johnny's card.
Shachō's antagonism extends beyond formal duels. In one notable incident, he interferes in Joe's personal life by targeting a ramen shop Joe frequents. Shachō boasts about a larger competing establishment, contributing to the closure of Joe's preferred shop through lost business. Later, hearing rumors of a different ramen shop location, Shachō and his group travel by plane to reach it, but Joe arrives first using the card Tenkuuoh, Super Extreme Class.
As a duelist, Shachō employs a Water Civilization deck focused on the Mutopia theme. Despite his proclaimed elite status and resource access, an ironic detail notes that the rarest card in his deck, Sharkuga, King of the Sea, holds relatively low monetary value in real-world terms. His character design, including hairstyle and head shape, bears a noted resemblance to another Water Civilization specialist, Hakase.
