Description
Rakuchō Takeda is a young man with short, messy dark green hair, green eyes, light skin, and dark freckles across his nose. He stands 177 cm tall, weighs 64 kg, has blood type A, and was born on September 8th, making him a Virgo. His standard attire is the Yamainu squad uniform with a peaked cap, though he also wears black pants with a white dress shirt or a yukata informally.

Blunt, duty-proud, and competitive, Takeda often displays cockiness about his skills. He excels at situational analysis but his hotheadedness sometimes clouds his judgment. He strictly adheres to rules and superiors' orders. Moments of vulnerability reveal a softer side, such as panic or tears when comrades like Takamine are threatened. Strong protective instincts drive him, particularly toward women and children, believing battlefields are no place for them. His lifelong single status fuels comedic outbursts of jealousy, especially toward Soramaru’s living situation with Nishiki.

At age eight, with his parents likely deceased, Takeda bore responsibility for his sister, who was taken hostage by ronin. The Yamainu's rescue inspired his determination to join them. Repeatedly rejected, he persistently waited outside headquarters, even climbing walls to observe meetings. Witnessing Takamine endure a beating to protect him solidified his belief that children "get in the way," fueling intense self-driven training to overcome helplessness. He achieved his goal, joining the Yamainu at sixteen.

Commanding soldiers to detain Tenka Kumo marks his first main series appearance; he unsuccessfully tries to recruit Tenka back into the Yamainu. After Tenka easily defeats him, Takamine disciplines him for insubordination. Takeda later questions Soramaru’s capability during a prison infiltration, though privately expresses concern for his safety. He assists in quelling a prison break and develops a rivalry with Soramaru, centered on training progress and romantic frustrations. He reacts with visible distress to Takamine’s hospitalization and the revelation of Soramaru’s Orochi identity, yet remains committed to his duty to eliminate the Orochi threat.

One year post-Orochi defeat and the Yamainu’s disbandment, Takeda initially rejects military job offers and is seen "loafing around." He reunites with Soramaru to investigate ongoing Orochi experiments, reluctantly allowing Nishiki and Chuutarou to join. Discovering Yamainu-linked experimental records, he confronts Takamine, demanding the truth. Citing Takamine’s teaching – "Even if you end up alone, don’t hide your fangs" – he challenges his former superior, declaring his resolve to fight independently.

His relationships are defined by rivalry and mentorship. He views Soramaru as a competitor in strength and romantic experience, often sparring verbally. He deeply respects Takamine as a mentor and superior, reacting intensely to his injuries. He clashes with Nishiki over her protectiveness of Chuutarou, mocking Soramaru for accepting it. He exhibits impatience toward Chuutarou, perceiving him as a liability.

Additional details include his favorite food (seafood, especially Atka mackerel), hobby (reading), dislike of animals, right-handedness, and preference for sleeping in a yukata.
