Description
Peter is a supernatural entity who haunts Yumegaoka High School. According to legend, he was abandoned as a newborn at a temple shrine, where he presumably died. After death, he existed only within dreams, crafting a dream world that trapped other dreamers who entered it. He discovered these dreamers all shared a common wish to stop time and remain unchanged. As more people populated his dreams, the dream town expanded, and his physical form aged from an infant to a teenage boy, while the original baby remained as a statue at the shrine.

This dream world continually filled with water produced by the baby’s tears. While new dreamers caused the land to grow and water levels to recede, a decline in dreamers made the waters rise, threatening to submerge the world entirely. To save his realm from flooding, Peter crossed into the real world and began forcibly spiriting people away to populate his dreams.

He became a malevolent spirit targeting school-age children and teenagers, especially those at Yumegaoka High who felt nostalgia or a desire for their school lives to never end. He would appear to solitary students, offer his hand, and attempt to spirit them away—a process that could be interrupted if someone found them before the transfer was complete.

He shared a significant history with Mato Katori, first meeting her the night before her middle school graduation, sensing her reluctance to move on. She frequently visited his dream world afterward and named him "Peter" after Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up. Peter confided in Mato about the dream world’s fragility and his plan to kidnap people to save it. When she insisted this was wrong, he severed contact and fully embraced his malevolent purpose.

Later, it was revealed the infant Peter had not been permanently abandoned; his mother returned for him, and he grew up to become Mamoru Towano, a teacher at Yumegaoka High. Towano had vague memories of his dream world experiences, which he dismissed as forgotten dreams. With help from Ai Ninomiya, he eventually recalled his past as Peter. Ai confronted Peter in the dream world, declared her love for him, and freed him from his isolation. This reconciliation led Peter to end his attempts to spirit people away, and his presence left the school.

In his dream world form, he appears as a teenage boy, 175 cm tall, with violet eyes and black hair hanging low over his eyes. He typically wears the Yumegaoka High uniform, often just the partially unbuttoned white shirt. His chibi form is depicted smiling, with closed, downward-slanted eyes reminiscent of kitsune spirits, hinting at a mischievous nature.

He features in a multi-episode arc involving Ai Ninomiya during the school’s cultural festival preparations. After Ai expresses a wish to live in a moment forever, Peter takes her on a dream-like journey through the school. Through these events, Ai learns his history, helps him reconcile with his past, and supports his integration into the real world as Mamoru Towano.
