Description
Lord Ananta, also known as Serpent King Kaira, rules the Yo-kai World as Lord Enma's stand-in. This high-ranking Yo-kai possesses a humanoid form featuring medium-length dark blue hair and snake-like pupils marked by dark red rings. His attire includes a black shirt, black pants, and a distinctive half-white kimono decorated with blue arrow motifs. A grey and dull blue boa drapes from his shoulder down to his legs, and he wears black boots with blue buckles and pointed tips. He wields the Jaou Ken, a katana-like sword adorned with jewels and spiritual flame designs. Identified as a "han'you," he is a hybrid descended from both Yo-kai and humans. His name "Jaou Kaira" translates to "Kaira the Snake King," while "Ananta" derives from Sanskrit, meaning "endless" or "infinite," referencing primal serpent deities in Hindu mythology.

In "Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: The Return of the Oni King," Kaira initially schemes to replace Lord Enma, assuming an antagonistic role motivated by plans to conquer the human world. He later collaborates with the protagonists to defeat the Oni King Rasen. The epilogue shows him officially ascending as the new Yo-kai Lord, presiding over meetings with Yo-kai officials. Within the "Yo-kai Watch Shadowside" anime series, Kaira serves as an ally to the Yo-kai Detective Agency while balancing his duties as Yo-kai Lord. He investigates the antagonist Shutendoji, locates the Sacred Armory artifacts, rescues a character from Shutendoji, reveals the existence of five Sacred Armories, and warns of Shutendoji's threat to both worlds. He later explains the emergence of "The Gloom," a phenomenon affecting Yo-kai behavior, and its dangers.

Kaira appears in multiple video games. In "Yo-kai Watch 4," he alternates between supporting the protagonists and serving as a boss in his Shinma form during Chapter 10. This Shinma form, resulting from sealed memories and a corrupted determination to protect the Enma Palace, attacks as the penultimate boss before the Overseer. He is automatically befriended post-game after a multi-stage quest involving battles against various Yo-kai teams. An alternative form, Yami Kaira, is a darker version exclusive to "Yo-kai Watch 4++." A corrupted clone, Jaou Kaira Kegare, appears in "Yo-kai Watch: Wibble Wobble" as a Rank ZZ Yo-kai embodying cruelty and tyranny.
