Description
O-matsu, also known as Matsu, is a Progenitor Yo-kai of the Heartful tribe and one of the four Genma accessible through the Yo-kai Watch Ogre when its dial is set to the three o'clock position.
She is a humanoid Yo-kai with pale skin and light purple hair arranged in a bun, secured by a gold half sun-shaped hair clip. Her bangs frame her face, and a purple scarf typically covers her mouth. She wears an ornate yellow and purple kimono; the sleeveless yellow outer layer reveals a purple inner kimono on her right side, held together by a red rope-like thread. The outfit emphasizes an hourglass figure. A dark magenta obi is tied at her waist, and the lower portion of her kimono is open, showing slender legs clad in thigh-high socks featuring diamond-shaped cutouts. Her footwear consists of yellow high-heeled sandals. A white and yellow hagoromo drapes over her shoulders, reaching her knees. She carries a purple paper fan decorated with yellow dots in her right hand.
Her inspiration is the historical figure Maeda Matsu, also called Omatsu no kata or Matsuhime, the daughter of warlord Shingen Takeda. Renowned for her intelligence in literary and martial arts, she was engaged to Nobutada Oda in a political alliance that never culminated in marriage. After the fall of the Takeda clan and Nobutada's death, she became a nun, dedicating her life to teaching children and was remembered for her kindness and humility.
In the narrative, the character Touma Tsukinami summons O-matsu using the Yo-kai Watch Ogre. This act allows her essence to possess him for combat, granting him her abilities while he retains control. During this transformation, Touma adopts O-matsu's female appearance without a change to his gender identity, a trait unique among the Genma.
