Description
Akinori Arihoshi, alias Bruno, is a 13-year-old resident of Springdale and a central protagonist. He is the eldest son of the Arihoshi family, a lineage steeped in generations of divination and sorcery fueled by Yo-kai energy. His grandmother, Mitsue Arihoshi, acts as his guardian and mentor, rigorously training him in magical arts since childhood. The Arihoshi home doubles as the operational base for the Yo-kai Detective Agency, which Akinori co-founds and leads.

Akinori wields innate magical abilities derived from Yo-kai energy, casting spells by tracing stars in the air for both defense and offense against supernatural threats. His key equipment is a Yo-kai Detection Radar, inherited from Mitsue, essential for locating disturbances and artifacts like the prototype Yo-kai Watch. He later receives the Yo-kai Watch Animus from the celestial Yo-kai Suzaku, enabling him to summon powerful Celestial Yo-kai in battle using triangular discs known as "arks."

Within the Yo-kai Detective Agency, Akinori collaborates closely with Natsume Amano and Touma Tsukinami to confront adversaries like the Onimaro virus and the Oni King Rasen. He naturally assumes a leadership role, directing investigations and expressing frustration when teammates ignore protocols. His friendship with Summer Adams (Natsume's localized name) involves mutual respect, though he finds her dismissive attitude challenging. He harbors a pronounced romantic interest in Isabelle, frequently attempting to impress her with his Yo-kai expertise and coordinating personal outings. Akinori also interacts with and admires Nathan Adams (Natsume's father), a legendary Yo-kai Watch user.

Akinori's background reveals deeper supernatural ties; he is the reincarnation of Boreas, one of Juno’s ancient knights, a connection shared with his ally Cole (reincarnated as Eurus). His family’s magical legacy transcends time, evidenced by Tae Arihoshi from the fifth movie using identical spells and possessing the same Yo-kai Detection Radar. Temporal theme naming links him to other protagonists: "Aki" (autumn) aligns with Cole (winter), Summer, and Theo (spring).

Throughout the series, Akinori evolves from a knowledgeable supporter into an active combatant, particularly after obtaining the Yo-kai Watch Animus. His leadership blends seriousness with humor, though his upbeat personality sometimes clashes with quieter allies like Cole. He confronts personal challenges, including fears of heights and isolation during Yo-kai-induced illusions. Ayame Himeno’s ability to replicate his magic without training hints at potential connections to his family’s occult legacy.
