Description
Akinori Arihoshi descends from the Arihoshi family, a lineage of magical practitioners specializing in yo-kai energy manipulation and divination. Trained by his grandmother Mitsue Arihoshi, he mastered sorcery techniques, tracing stars in midair to cast spells for combat or spiritual purposes. His family's magical legacy connects him to ancestors like Tae Arihoshi, who shares their signature spells and yo-kai detection radar.

Physically, Akinori is a fair-skinned, heavyset boy with brown spiky hair, thick eyebrows, and brown eyes. He typically wears traditional Japanese attire: a white kosode, dark purple hakama, zori sandals, and a necklace of green Buddhist prayer beads.

As a founding member and self-appointed leader of the Yo-kai Detective Agency, Akinori displays pride in his role and irritation when peers like Summer Adams or Cole disregard his authority. Despite his confident demeanor, he harbors deep insecurities about his physique, often fantasizing about a slimmer appearance to enhance his magical skills and social appeal. He maintains a humorous outlook as the group's "mood maker," though his boisterousness sometimes annoys Cole.

Akinori channels yo-kai energy to create offensive or defensive star-shaped constructs. Later, he receives the Yo-kai Watch Animus from the celestial yo-kai Suzaku, enabling him to summon powerful Celestial yo-kai using triangular arks discs. His magic detects supernatural threats, like using Mitsue's gifted yo-kai radar to locate the Onimaro virus outbreak. In the mobile game *Yo-kai Watch Wibble Wobble*, he temporarily gains a slim physique when transforming into the Youmajin "Akinoterasu" by fusing with Kenshin Amaterasu's energy, wielding a magic staff and star-based attacks.

His relationships include a close but occasionally contentious friendship with Summer (Natsume Amano), whom he respects despite her tendency to undermine him. He shares a bond with Cole, though Cole finds his exuberance overwhelming. Akinori develops a passionate romantic interest in Isabelle (Ayame Himeno), initially skeptical of her appeal but becoming devoted after seeing her picture. He frequently tries to impress her with yo-kai knowledge and arranges opportunities to spend time with her. He respects Summer's father, Nate Adams (Keita Amano), after discovering his legacy as a legendary yo-kai watch user, even offering Nate lodging during time-travel incidents.

Akinori's development centers on leadership and self-acceptance. He confronts threats like the Onimaro virus and the Oni King Rasen, contributing strategic magic and celestial summons to battles. He demonstrates courage, such as inviting Isabelle on a date despite earlier hesitations. A pivotal revelation identifies him as the reincarnation of Hakushu (or Eurus), one of the ancient knights who served the yo-kai Juno.

Beyond the *Shadowside* anime, Akinori appears in the film *Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: The Return of the Oni King*, aiding Summer and Cole against Rasen's invasion by providing arks and combat support. He is playable in *Yo-kai Watch 4*, crossing between timelines with other protagonists. His seasonal-themed name ("Aki" meaning autumn) reflects a naming pattern shared with peers Cole (winter), Summer (summer), and Theo (spring).
