Description
Matheus Johan Weiss holds the position of vice commander within the Imperial Army's 203rd Aerial Mage Battalion, serving directly as the primary deputy to battalion commander Tanya von Degurechaff. He possesses distinctive black hair and violet eyes, consistently portrayed across depictions.

Initially holding the rank of First Lieutenant (Oberleutnant), Weiss exhibits a cautious, doctrine-adherent combat style in early operations, notably withdrawing upon encountering anti-mage formations during the Dacian campaign rather than employing improvised tactics. Prolonged frontline experience develops his aggression and tactical initiative, earning Degurechaff's regard. This evolution fosters her trust in his capability to independently execute critical missions like the Osfjord operation, even in her potential absence.

Weiss participates in every major engagement of the 203rd Battalion: the Dacia campaign, the amphibious assault at Osfjord, Western Front operations against the Francois Republic, North African deployments, and Eastern Front combat against the Russy Federation. Following the Battle of Tiegenhof, a temporary ceasefire precedes his reassignment. When Degurechaff commands the newly formed Salamander Kampfgruppe, a combined arms unit, Weiss receives promotion. He remains her vice commander while simultaneously assuming direct command of the 203rd Battalion during her absences.

Within the battalion, his functional relationships with officers Vooren Grantz and Viktoriya Serebryakov include noted protective concern toward Serebryakov as the sole female soldier besides Degurechaff. Integration into the Salamander Kampfgruppe structure brings initial friction with infantry battalion commanders, though these tensions resolve after their replacement by elite paratrooper units from the imperial capital.

Weiss maintains complex perceptions of Degurechaff, blending profound loyalty with apprehension regarding her methods. Her actions, such as the speech in North Africa and conduct during the Dacian capital attack, alternately shock or unsettle him. While recognizing her harsh discipline, he interprets it as ultimately safeguarding subordinates—a perspective sustaining his steadfast allegiance.
