Description
Dearche is a character who appears in the theatrical films Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection and its sequel, Detonation. Her physical appearance is based on that of the character Hayate Yagami, though with distinct grey hair instead of brown. She is the materialized form of a presence known as the Soul of King, which was awakened from the pages of the Tome of the Night Sky, an ancient and powerful magical artifact once known as the Book of Darkness. When she is given form, she materializes with a reference to Hayate's appearance and magical talents.
In terms of personality, Dearche carries herself with a commanding and regal air befitting her title as a ruler. She is portrayed as vain, arrogant, and hot-headed, often referring to herself using the majestic plural and viewing others as servants or vassals. Despite her initial calm and confident demeanor, she is known to lose her composure quickly when a battle begins to turn against her. Her motivations center on regaining power that has been lost to her, having been revived for the specific purpose of reclaiming her former strength.
Dearche's role in the story is that of a central figure leading two other materialized beings, Stern and Levi, who serve as her loyal vassals. Stern is addressed as her right hand, often acting as a rational and competent strategist who manages plans with Dearche's benefit in mind. Together, this trio arrives on Earth to fight for their own purposes, which become intertwined with the conflict involving the Florian family from the dying planet Eltoria and the mages of the Time-Space Administration Bureau. Her actions drive significant portions of the plot, and her immense power makes her a formidable force that many characters must unite to confront. A notable development in Detonation reveals that Dearche, along with Stern and Levi, was originally a cat that lived together with another character named Yuri. Furthermore, during the climax, she directly requests that Fate Testarossa leave a battle against Yuri to her so Fate can protect Nanoha instead.
Dearche possesses a vast and powerful magical skillset. She uses a magical system that emulates the Ancient Belkan style. Her primary Device is Yersiniakreuz, and she is also associated with the Tome of the Purple Sky, which are purplish copies of Hayate Yagami's Devices. Her known spell arsenal includes a variety of offensive and support techniques, predominantly bombardment and shooting-type spells. These spells include Arondight, a powerful bombardment attack; Doom Bringer, a shooting spell; Dáinsleif, a magic-enhanced attack; Excalibur, another bombardment spell; and Juggernaut, also a bombardment attack. She can also cast a binding spell called Majesty of the Lord and a transport spell named Sleipnir. Her protective knight armor is known as Diabolique, which in the movie continuity features an original design with a chest armor plate while maintaining a similar overall style to Hayate's armor.
