Description
Sojiro Sakura manages Café Leblanc in Yongen-Jaya, overseeing its operations with meticulous routine as the protagonist’s legal guardian during their Tokyo probation. His initial coldness stems from distrust of their criminal record, enforcing strict curfews with detached pragmatism. A former government official, his past collaboration with researcher Wakaba Isshiki ties him to her daughter Futaba, whom he adopts after Wakaba’s politically orchestrated death—a truth he uncovers years later.

Though guarded, his relationship with the protagonist thaws as he teaches coffee brewing and curry recipes, easing restrictions while masking concern. His protective instincts emerge in shielding Futaba from external dangers, respecting her isolation yet quietly safeguarding her. Upon learning of their Phantom Thieves activities, his anger gives way to covert support, acknowledging their role in healing Futaba’s trauma and avenging Wakaba.

His evolution from cynical bystander to active ally sees him confronting Shido’s agents and concealing the Thieves’ identities, driven by internal moral conviction rather than supernatural influence. Spin-off appearances reinforce his steadfast support: sheltering allies in *Persona 5 Strikers*, offering cameo guidance in *Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight* and *Persona 5 Tactica*.

Methodical yet dryly humorous, he hides sentimentality through small gestures—befriending Morgana instantly or discreetly tending to the protagonist’s needs. Lingering guilt over Wakaba’s death fuels his dedication to Futaba, forging paternal bonds that redefine his purpose. Beneath a gruff exterior lies a redeemed guardian, prioritizing others’ safety over his own comfort.
