Description
Chris Redgrave, a 20-year-old sales representative at Pinochle's Old Maid branch, covertly operates as a field agent for High Card. Standing 182 cm tall, he has grey hair, amber eyes, and silver stud earrings. His work attire consists of a red blazer, a diamond-patterned grey shirt with black hearts, red pleated pants, and a gold-clasped tie.

Outwardly frivolous and charismatic, Chris adopts a flirtatious, carefree persona as a defense mechanism, described as wearing "different masks" to navigate situations. This facade hides profound emotional burdens tied to family loyalty. His father, Tyler Redgrave, a High Card agent, died performing the forbidden X-Hand ritual—using four-of-a-kind X-Playing Cards—to save Chris’s life during childhood. This cemented Chris’s belief that self-sacrifice is necessary to protect loved ones.

Chris wields the Five of Hearts X-Playing Card, "Calorie’s High," which grants rapid regeneration by converting calories into healing energy, allowing recovery from dismemberment or fatal wounds. This demands constant high-sugar consumption, especially "Fudgees." After attempting his own X-Hand ritual, his healing weakened, leaving injuries unhealed, and he inherited symptoms of his sister Michelle’s genetic illness. Michelle, hospitalized since childhood with the condition that killed their mother, motivated Chris’s desperate bid to collect four Five cards to heal her, violating High Card’s ban. This led him to betray his team, steal cards, and shoot his protégé Finn Oldman non-fatally (targeting a card in Finn’s pocket) to complete the ritual. Finn’s intervention reduced it to three cards, sparing both lives but leaving Michelle improved yet uncured.

As Finn’s mentor in High Card, Chris developed a familial bond, evolving from reluctance into a protective figure who risks his life for the team—such as ramming the Black Knight while injured to save them. His tactical ingenuity surfaces in combat, like disarming an opponent by feigning surrender to steal their card. He harbors a fear of gorillas after an assault by one on an island during a Drama CD incident.

His background reflects inherited trauma and unwavering loyalty. The unresolved nature of Michelle’s illness and the consequences of his X-Hand attempt drive his ongoing development.
