Description
Rūko Kominato, shaped by childhood trauma from her parents' divorce, grows into a compassionate yet guarded individual who shuns emotional connections to evade pain. Her life shifts when she becomes a Selector, engaging in card battles with sentient LRIG cards after bonding with Tama. Initially drawn to the competition’s thrill, she gradually cultivates a selfless goal: freeing all LRIGs from their cards and restoring their humanity, regardless of personal sacrifice.

As her bond with Tama deepens, the once battle-driven LRIG evolves into a loyal companion. Their success transforms Tama into a human who joins Rūko’s family, though unresolved repercussions from the Selector system linger. When a new cycle of battles emerges, Rūko initially resists involvement to shield Tama but finds herself compelled back into the conflict, her fate still entwined with the game’s consequences.

Her friendships with Yuzuki and Hitoe mirror her growth from isolation to valuing camaraderie. She prioritizes others’ safety over her own ambitions, willingly surrendering victories to protect their hopes. This selflessness extends to confronting the Selector system’s exploitative framework, where she challenges its ethical dilemmas while grappling with the emotional strain on participants.

Later, Rūko navigates the tension between craving normalcy and addressing recurring threats tied to the card game. Her resolve solidifies into a steadfast dedication to shielding others from the battles’ fallout, even as fresh trials arise. Tama’s presence in her daily life post-transformation stands as a testament to their unbreakable bond and the enduring legacy of her choices.
