Description
Suzuko Homura is a frequently relocated high school student due to her father's job, leading to social isolation and difficulty forming lasting friendships. Her childhood mother's death from illness left her with inherited cooking skills and recipes as a connection. Returning to Ikebukuro, she struggled to adapt to her new school, clinging to memories of her elementary school childhood friend, Chinatsu Morikawa, and their promise to remain friends forever—a friendship Chinatsu later manipulated into dependency, isolating Suzuko.
Initially shy and withdrawn, Suzuko began playing WIXOSS hoping to make friends. Upon opening a card deck, she became a Selector and received an LRIG named Ril, resembling a toy she once shared with Chinatsu. Thrust into Selector Battles, Suzuko wagered memory coins—starting with three, aiming to turn all five gold. Losing coins risked memory loss, while winning allowed memory alteration. She resisted battling initially but faced forced participation under a 90-day time limit, with delayed battles blackening coins.
Her reunion with Chinatsu, now a Selector battling specifically to erase memories of Suzuko, triggered her development. Learning Chinatsu's disdain and witnessing her harsh transformation plunged Suzuko into depression, but she resolved to protect their shared memories. She proactively sought WIXOSS training from fellow Selector Hanna Mikage, exchanging homemade sweets for lessons. This marked her shift toward determination and resourcefulness in battles, reclaiming her proactive childhood self. Her caring nature persisted, seen when comforting Hanna after traumatic memory recovery.
In critical battles, Suzuko confronted Chinatsu, declaring her intent to become strong enough to end their codependency. After defeating Chinatsu in a final duel, they reconciled, with Chinatsu aiding Suzuko against the manipulative "Bookmaker" Kou Satomi. Post-battle, Chinatsu lost all memories of Suzuko due to unresolved coins but was freed from the Selector system. Suzuko accepted this, restarting their friendship from scratch while cherishing her own memories of Chinatsu and Ril, who disappeared after the battles.
In later events, Suzuko maintained her friendship with Hanna and a rekindled bond with Chinatsu. She expressed concern when Selector Battles resumed, particularly for Hanna's involvement, though she personally avoided re-engagement. Her improved relationship with her father reflected ongoing personal growth beyond the battles.
