Description
Jessica Edwards was born April 16, 768 UC. Her father served as bursar of the Free Planets Alliance Officer Academy, where she later worked as a music instructor. During her youth at a school ball, cadet Yang Wen-li asked her to dance but repeatedly stepped on her toes due to inexperience. Though attracted to Yang, she declined a second dance, accepting an invitation from Jean Robert Lappe instead, hoping Yang would ask again; he never did. Jessica maintained friendships with both Yang and Lappe, participating in student activism. In 785 UC, she initiated a protest against dissolving the Academy's War History Studies Department, which failed but provided valuable experience.

Jessica became engaged to Jean Robert Lappe. Before they could marry, Lappe deployed to the front and was killed in action at the Battle of Astarte in January 796 UC. Grief-stricken and angry, she publicly confronted Secretary of Defence Job Trunicht during a war commemoration speech, demanding to know his whereabouts during the slaughter. Removed by security, she was assaulted by the Patriotic Knights Corps (PKC) targeting her for sedition. Yang Wen-li, foreseeing the danger, intervened and rescued her. He took her to his estate, but the PKC attacked the residence. Yang repelled the assault and secured Trunicht’s agreement to spare her life.

Lappe’s death and the PKC attack drove Jessica to join the Citizens’ Anti-War Union. Later in 796 UC, her home district on planet Terneuzen held a legislative by-election. She campaigned for Peace Party candidate James Thorndike, but the PKC assassinated him. Public backlash shifted support from the pro-war candidate to the Peace Party, and Jessica replaced Thorndike as their candidate. She won the election with 80% of the vote. However, the Alliance High Council voted to invade the Empire shortly after her victory.

In 797 UC, Admiral Dwight Greenhill staged a coup, establishing a military government. Jessica organized a protest at a stadium on Heinessen. During the demonstration, military police captain Christian confronted her. After a heated exchange, he bludgeoned her, leaving her fatally wounded amid a riot engulfing the stadium. The violence resulted in approximately 1,500 military police casualties and 10–15 times more civilian deaths. Her death was later confirmed in an official report.

Following her death, Jessica became a symbol of the anti-war movement. The Edwards Committee, an anti-war group formed after the Alliance Civil War, was named in her memory. A statue of her was erected outside the stadium where she died.
