Description
Alexander Bewcock, born in 726 UC (3526 CE), rose uniquely within the Free Planets Alliance Star Fleet from an enlisted petty officer to Fleet Admiral, bypassing formal academy training through demonstrated merit. Early combat experience found him as a gunner aboard the battleship *Shah Abbas* in the 5th Fleet during the Second Battle of Tiamat (745 UC / 3545 CE). There, facing ammunition shortages, he maintained discipline and urged panicking crewmates back to duty. His enlisted roots sometimes drew scorn from academy graduates but also fostered respect for his practical experience.

By 788 UC (3588 CE), he commanded the Marovia Starzone as a commodore and authored memoirs. Rising to vice admiral within six years, he took command of the 5th Fleet. As senior admiral during the Third Battle of Tiamat (795 UC / 3595 CE), he coordinated the 5th, 10th, and 11th Fleets. He cautioned Vice Admiral Willem Holland against overextension, but Holland's ignored orders led to heavy losses. Bewcock, alongside Admiral Ulanhu, shielded the 11th Fleet's retreat, compelling an Imperial withdrawal.

During the Alliance's invasion of Imperial territory, Bewcock acted on Yang Wen-li's warning to withdraw when supply lines were cut. Retreating through the Bilrost starzone, his fleet endured 30% losses under Oskar von Reuenthal's pursuit before escaping. When Reinhard von Lohengramm invaded via the Fezzan Corridor, Bewcock assumed command of the combined Alliance fleets. At the Battle of Rantemario, he exploited a star's gravity well against superior Imperial numbers but suffered catastrophic losses. Facing defeat, he attempted suicide; his aide, Chung Wu-Cheng, intervened, convincing him survival was necessary to shield subordinates from postwar retribution.

Following the Alliance's surrender in 799 UC (3599 CE), Bewcock retired under Imperial intelligence surveillance. Recalled during Reinhard's second invasion, he led the final defense at the Battle of Marr-Adetta. Commanding a hopelessly outnumbered force against over 100,000 Imperial ships, he inflicted roughly 25,000 casualties. In his final moments, he toasted democracy before dying in action. Reinhard ordered a full imperial salute in tribute.

His adjutant, Lieutenant Commander Soon Soul, served loyally. After Bewcock's initial retirement, Soul sought to rejoin him but was instead ordered to Yang Wen-li's fleet, later helping suppress a mutiny en route. Politically, Bewcock fiercely opposed surrender during the Imperial invasion of Heinessen, declaring the Alliance should "die as a democracy" rather than survive as a dictatorship. He threatened to kill Alliance leader Job Trunicht to prevent capitulation but was arrested by Terraist Church soldiers loyal to Trunicht. He critiqued the Alliance's institutional decay, stating: "The collapse of a democracy is the sin of every citizen."
