Description
Winning Fumina is a Gunpla designed and built by Minato Sakai, directly modeled after Fumina Hoshino and her SD-237S Star Winning Gundam. Minato obtained Fumina's permission to borrow her Gunpla concept, though concealed that the new unit would once again feature her likeness, resulting in her surprise at its reveal. This design evolves Minato's previous Fumina-inspired units like the SF-01 Super Fumina, shifting focus towards enhanced combat capabilities beyond mere visual appeal. Notably, the suit's inner clothing design references Fumina's swimsuit from a prior incident Minato did not personally witness.
Technologically, Winning Fumina employs the Cross-Up System. Its reinforced "costume armor" augments mobility, offense, and defense. This armor can detach and combine into an autonomous support unit designated the SD Star Winning Gundam, where SD signifies either "Super Deformed" or "Special Deluxe." Rather than dividing power, this configuration enables cooperative tactics between the base Frame Fumina and the SD Star Winning Gundam, potentially multiplying combat effectiveness exponentially. The SD Star Winning Gundam follows pilot commands but possesses autonomy via an AI programmed by Minato with Fumina Hoshino's personality traits, frequently leading it to disobey Minato during operation. Minato utilizes a voice changer to emulate Fumina's voice while piloting.
Armaments include multiple modular and combinable weapons. The primary firearm is the rapid-fire Beam Machine Gun, discharging pellet-shaped beam bullets. Large shuriken-shaped Star Crosses mount on the shoulders, deployable in both Winning Fumina and SD Star Winning Gundam forms. These combine with the Beam Machine Gun to form the Star Buster Sword, emitting a continuous high-output, star-shaped beam. Remote weaponry comprises Gun Bits serving as leg armor, each housing a high-output beam cannon, and Guard Bits functioning as forearm armor, capable of generating beam barriers or acting as small throwing weapons. The Winning Beam serves as an ultimate attack usable by both Frame Fumina and the SD Star Winning Gundam; simultaneous firing traps opponents between the beams.
A signature special attack is the Falling Star Rainbow, demonstrated protecting Bearbear Village. During an incident where rogue Acguy heads abducted Beargguys, Super Fumina and Hyper Gyanko intervened. After their initial forms—Command Fumina and Rick-Do Gyanko—were overwhelmed, support from villagers wielding Gunpla LED units revitalized them. Recognizing the Acguy heads' desire to be reborn as complete Gunpla, Minato transformed Command Fumina into Winning Fumina. The Falling Star Rainbow generated a large star-shaped beam, trapping the combined giant Acguy within an energy pillar that transported it to a Gunpla factory in Shizuoka. There, the Acguy heads were recycled into Eco-Pla (Gunpla made from recycled plastic), fulfilling their wish for renewal.
This unit debuted in the third episode of the ONA series *Gundam Build Fighters: Battlogue*, titled "The Adventures of Fumina and Gyanko." Within that episode's narrative framework, Winning Fumina exists as a Gunpla character in a story parodying magical girl anime tropes, not piloted by its creator in a standard battle context.
