Description
Re=L Rayford, an artificial human engineered through Project: Revive Life, originated from genetic experiments by researchers Sion Rayford and Rainer Layner, who spliced the DNA of Sion’s deceased sister, Ilushia Rayford. Designed as an emotionless clone with erased memories, she remained dormant until investigator Glenn Radars uncovered her during the project’s exposure. Post-project termination, she joined the Imperial Court Mage Corps as Operative #7 “The Chariot,” mastering alchemical combat to forge colossal swords.

Her early tactical approach prioritized mechanical precision, deploying frontal assaults that earned her a reputation for icy detachment and oversimplified strategies, often clashing with Glenn’s mentorship. Assigned undercover missions—including posing as a student at Alzano Imperial Magic Academy to safeguard critical targets—she maintained unwavering loyalty to Glenn despite expanding responsibilities.

A turning point emerged when Rainer, masquerading as her brother, coerced her into betraying Glenn and abducting Rumia Tingel during the project’s revival. Glenn’s intervention exposed Rainer’s lies, unraveling her implanted memories of kinship. This revelation drove Re=L to discard her programmed destiny, forging a self-determined identity centered on protecting Glenn.

Physically mirroring Ilushia, Re=L sports light blue hair secured by a crimson ribbon and piercing blue eyes. Her wardrobe shifted from the Mage Corps’ navy trench coat and combat-gear to the academy’s uniform—a tailored blue blazer, striped skirt, and knee-high boots—symbolizing her shift from soldier to covert operative.

Initially distant, she gradually connected with peers like Sistine Fibel and Rumia, softening her rigid demeanor. Personal quirks include a penchant for strawberry tarts and a steadfast refusal to consume vegetables, contrasting her disciplined exterior.

Central conflicts involved battles against Rainer’s cloned replicas, culminating in their defeat alongside Glenn. These clashes cemented her rejection of her origins as a weapon, affirming her resolve to carve an independent future free from manipulation.
