Description
Re=L Rayford emerged from Project: Revive Life, a research venture spearheaded by Sion Rayford and Rainer Layner. Crafted from the genetic code of Sion's deceased sister, Ilushia Rayford, her distinct appearance featured light blue hair and eyes. Sensing peril, Sion recruited Glenn Radars of the Imperial Court Mage Corps to investigate, a move that resulted in the deaths of both Sion and Ilushia at Rainer's hand. Glenn found Re=L dormant in a containment unit and freed her. She then joined the Imperial Court Mage Corps as Operative #7, "The Chariot".

Initially stoic, emotionless, and socially distant, Re=L grappled with her artificial origins and fractured memories. This demeanor masked profound identity conflicts and a reserved, introspective core. Her combat approach favored simple, direct frontal assaults, lacking tactical nuance, which sometimes drew colleague criticism. Beneath her reserve lay fierce loyalty, especially towards Glenn, whom she saw as her savior and sole purpose for living.

Assigned to protect Princess Rumia Tingel during the Magic Game Festival, Re=L worked with Albert Frazer, using illusion magic to divert guards. This mission offered her first exposure to academic life and peer interaction. She later enrolled as a transfer student at Alzano Imperial Magic Academy, ostensibly to protect Rumia though her personal focus remained Glenn's safety. Exchanging her original Mage Corps attire—a navy coat, green scarf, corset vest, and striped skirt—for the academy uniform, she gradually formed bonds with classmates Sistine Fibel and Rumia, signaling her first steps toward emotional connection.

A pivotal moment unfolded during a field trip when Rainer, disguised as her brother, manipulated Re=L into betraying Glenn. Under his influence, she stabbed Glenn and abducted Rumia for Project: Revive Life's mana extraction experiments. Forced to witness Rumia's suffering, Re=L confronted the trauma of her own creation. Glenn intervened, shattering Rainer's deceptions by exposing memory inconsistencies, notably her inability to recall Rainer's name. This confrontation led Re=L to reject Rainer and reaffirm her loyalty to Glenn. She later aided Glenn in defeating Rainer's clones, symbolizing her acceptance of her identity and chosen purpose.

Re=L's combat centered on expert swordsmanship and alchemy, specializing in creating massive swords for devastating strikes. She wielded potent lightning and thunder magic capable of structural destruction, though control issues occasionally risked allies. Her fighting style evolved modestly to include tactical adjustments but retained a fundamentally straightforward approach.

Personality assessments identified her as an INFP and Enneagram Type 5w4, reflecting idealism, intense curiosity, and a fear of incompetence. These traits manifested in her analytical mind, preference for solitude, and quiet protectiveness. Despite initial detachment, she developed genuine care for classmates, seen in shared meals and collaboration during crises. She favored strawberry tarts and disliked vegetables.

In later missions, like disrupting a forced marriage involving Sistine, Re=L participated in defensive actions alongside academy allies. Her choices consistently prioritized protecting comrades over formal objectives, underscoring her commitment to personal bonds above institutional duties.
