Description
Shuuya Kano, a 16-year-old with a turbulent past and striking features, navigates life behind a veil of playful charm. His short, uneven blond hair frames golden feline eyes, one side partially obscured by a longer right fringe. He dresses in a black hoodie, its hood speckled with white dots inside and out, worn unzipped over a rolled-sleeve beige or dark gray shirt. Dark blue jeans and mid-shin black boots complete his look. The hoodie, a cherished childhood gift from Ayano, anchors him to a fragile history.

Orphaned on August 15th after his abusive mother perished shielding him during a robbery, Kano’s survival intertwined with the Kagerou Daze. There, the Snake of Deceiving Eyes bestowed him the power to warp others’ perceptions—a tool he later wielded to protect his adoptive family. Taken in by Ayaka and Kenjirou Tateyama, he joined Kido and Seto at their orphanage, co-founding the Mekakushi Dan as its third member. His ability to mimic others, including Ayano, became both shield and burden. Her death fractured his resolve, leaving him vulnerable to manipulation by the Snake of Clearing Eyes, which twisted his gift into a weapon of deceit. Haunted by guilt and self-doubt, he battles the scars of betrayal and loss while striving to mend fractured bonds within the group.

Beneath his teasing grin and flirtatious banter lies a guarded, introspective soul. He deflects vulnerability with humor, yet privately grapples with a conviction of his own inadequacy. His Deceiving Eyes demand precise knowledge of a target’s likeness, voice, and scent to craft illusions, though pain shatters the facade, forcing confrontations with reality.

Within the Mekakushi Dan, Kano oscillates between leadership and self-sabotage. His strategic mind guides the group through crises, yet his internal wars—over Ayano’s legacy, his mother’s shadow, and the serpents’ influence—threaten to unravel alliances. Interactions with Kido, Seto, and Ayano’s memory drive both the group’s cohesion and the unfolding narrative, as his struggle to reconcile deception and truth shapes their collective fate.
