Description
Major General Ralph Algol operates as a magician in the elite USNA military unit STARS. His missions focus on neutralizing perceived global magical threats, particularly strategic-class magic developments that risk destabilizing existing power balances. During the Minamitate Island incident, he serves under Angelina Kudou Shields’ command to destroy a research facility conducting illegal experiments on modified magicians—the Watatsumi series. This facility aimed to develop "Meteorite Fall," a strategic-class magic capable of directing astronomical objects toward Earth, which STARS classified as an immediate existential threat requiring eradication.
Algol bears the designation "Curve Shooter" for his specialized ability to bend magical energy beam trajectories after deployment, circumventing physical obstacles to strike targets indirectly and cementing his reputation as a formidable combatant. He wields a gun-shaped Casting Assistant Device (CAD) to generate and manipulate these projectile beams. At the research facility, he confronts Erika Chiba and Leonhard Saijo directly. The battle intensifies with Katsuto Juumonji’s intervention to reinforce Erika and Leonhard. Algol meets his end when Erika employs the Chiba family’s secret technique "Kirikage" to deliver a fatal blow, compelling his comrade Benjamin Canopus to retreat.
Ruthless and willing to inflict excessive casualties to prioritize mission success, Algol embodies a combat-oriented mindset with minimal restraint. He demonstrates pragmatism by accepting temporary alliances with adversaries if they advance operational objectives. Despite his aggressive tactics, he voices distinct contempt for exploiters of the vulnerable, stating: "I don’t dislike the strong. However, I detest those who prey on the weak," revealing a personal code that coexists with his otherwise merciless warfare approach.
Algol’s narrative existence is restricted to this storyline. His background, affiliations, and combat role are detailed solely within these events, without expansion or appearances in other seasons, spin-offs, or OVAs of the franchise.
