Description
Eto Etoshinmori VIII is a priestess born into a lineage devoted to serving the Twelve God-Kings. Her sacred charge is preserving harmony among these deities and preventing their conflicts. A core aspect of her duty involves guiding chosen heroes to locate all Twelve God-Kings, ensuring they remain beyond the grasp of antagonists intent on resurrecting the sealed Evil God-King – an entity once threatening the Spirits World with eternal darkness.
She possesses distinctive long pink hair, frequently styled in ringlets framing her face, and striking purple eyes. Her typical attire is a sleeveless blue and gold dress layered over white, accented by a large, bun-like hat in matching colors. For specific trials, like Mistral-Bit's, her outfit shifts to a red hat and gown, complete with a Burst Wall card worn on her body.
Politeness and a profound sense of duty define her personality. Eto prioritizes mediating conflicts between heroes and God-Kings, consistently demonstrating concern for their well-being. A prominent trait is her intense phobia of Ultimates, powerful entities within the card game; this fear triggers immediate fainting spells upon hearing about or sensing their presence. She lost consciousness overhearing Ultimate discussions during deck remodeling and fainted again detecting Kazuya Taiga's Ultimate usage at Tatsumi's castle.
Her key involvement begins fleeing from the dark battler General Inui alongside her maid Kinoto and pet Mofumofu. During this escape, she encounters Shunta Mogami, a new hero in the Spirits World, and provides him with a Soul Core enabling his transformation into a battle form to defeat Inui. Throughout the journey, Eto acts as a source of rare cards and uses her compass to detect powerful cards, Soul Spots, and the locations of missing God-Kings, including the Rooster God-King lost by Yoku Albatrosa.
Infilitrating Tatsumi's castle to reclaim Gale-Phoenix, she confronts Tatsumi's plan to revive and control the Evil God-King. Eto openly objects, citing the entity's uncontrollable nature, though this leads to Shunta's defeat and the loss of his God-King. Later, she aids the heroes by recounting the legend of the Tiger Hero, guiding Shunta to discover the Tiger God-King on a mountain summit. In another incident, both Eto and Mofumofu become possessed by a Soul Spot ruler, who uses their bodies to communicate and challenge the heroes. She returns to normal after Shunta and Yoku complete the trial.
Her name originates from the Chinese Zodiac system; the kanji "干支" (Stem-Branch) is read as "Eto."
