Description
Puchiko, also called Petit Charat, is a catgirl from the planet Di Gi Charat. She is 6 years old, having appeared as 5 in the pilot, standing 103 cm tall including her cat ears and weighing 18 kg. She possesses long brown hair, dark brown eyes, and an ahoge above her forehead. Her standard outfit is a sailor uniform with a white top, dark sailor tie and skirt, green accents, and cat bells in her hair; she goes barefoot. Her attire shifts to a light blue dress with a white underdress and light blue tie in *Di Gi Charat Nyo*, and to a red dress, dark blue pants, and orange shoes in *Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat*. *Winter Garden*, set when she is 15, shows her taller, adding white socks and black shoes to her original uniform.
Her background initially depicted her as unrelated to Dejiko, saved by Dejiko from a hole on their home planet, leading her to follow Dejiko out of gratitude. Later media, including *Winter Garden*, retcons this, establishing her as Dejiko's biological younger sister, sharing parents the King and Queen of planet Di Gi Charat. Her extended family includes cousins Mike Charat and Rinna Charat, an unnamed uncle and aunt, grandparents Grandpa and Grandma Charat, and several ancestors. She travels to Earth with Dejiko and their floating guardian Gema, initially to work at a Gamers store in Akihabara or, in *Di Gi Charat Nyo*, for princess training. During this *Nyo* training, she resides at the Ankorodo Cake Shop after being separated from Dejiko.
Puchiko rarely speaks, maintaining a stoic, calm demeanor even in chaos. When she does speak, she ends sentences with "nyu" and can display a sharp tongue if provoked. She harbors an interest in the occult. Unlike the volatile Dejiko, Puchiko's docile, Type B personality makes expressing aggression difficult, though extreme duress can trigger intense anger, as seen in a *Di Gi Charat Nyo* episode where deception provokes a fierce reaction.
Her primary ability is the "Me Kara Beam," an eye-beam attack similar to Dejiko's. Her gentle nature hinders its effectiveness, often causing misfires that produce random objects or sludge instead of a coherent beam; this inconsistency stems directly from her lack of sustained anger. Her proficiency with the beam improves when her aggressive side surfaces.
Her character evolves across media: she works at Gamers alongside Dejiko and Gema in the original series and OVAs. *Di Gi Charat Nyo* reframes her journey as princess training, emphasizing her role as Dejiko's assistant. *Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat*, a prequel, depicts her living in a castle with Dejiko, reinforcing her princess status. *Winter Garden*, a future-set sequel, portrays her at age 15 with increased height and maturity while retaining her core personality.
