Description
Mitsuki Nase is the youngest daughter of the prestigious Nase family, a clan of Spirit World Warriors dedicated to monitoring and eliminating supernatural entities called youmu. Born on November 1, she is 16 years old during the main series, turning 17 in the film *Mirai-hen*. Standing 165 cm tall, she possesses fair skin, dark ruby eyes, and long black hair typically worn straight, sometimes styled in a side-ponytail for festivals. She is frequently seen consuming lollipops or popsicles. Her attire consists of a standard yale-blue sailor-style school uniform with a red ribbon, a pleated light blue skirt, and calf-length black socks.

Raised under the strict guidance of her older sister Izumi Nase, Mitsuki learned that Spirit World Warriors must prioritize duty over personal connections, resulting in a childhood confined within the Nase residence. This isolation fostered a detached and initially cold demeanor, though she maintained a close bond with her brother Hiroomi Nase. Her personality combines frankness with near-sadistic teasing, particularly directed at her childhood acquaintance Akihito Kanbara, a half-youmu she was assigned to monitor alongside Hiroomi. Despite her aloof exterior, she exhibits deeper emotions like concern, anger, and happiness, especially in high-stakes situations. Her fondness for sweets and ice cream contrasts with her otherwise disciplined nature.

As president of the high school Literary Club, Mitsuki spends significant time with Akihito, using their interactions to observe his youmu half while developing a genuine, if often sarcastic, friendship. Her initial wariness of Mirai Kuriyama—a Spirit World Warrior tasked with hunting Akihito—gradually shifts to cautious neutrality and eventual warmth. Mitsuki aids Mirai by referring her to a part-time job after Mirai loses her Spirit Warrior license and invites her to a lantern festival, marking Mitsuki's first participation in such an event.

During the Hollow Shadow incident, Mitsuki uncovers Mirai's plan to confront the powerful youmu alone and warns Akihito, though she ultimately retreats from the battle. Later, she detects the approach of the Calm, a phenomenon weakening youmu, and learns of its connection to Beyond the Boundary, a youmu linked to Akihito's dormant power. When Akihito's youmu half awakens, Mitsuki and Hiroomi oppose Izumi's plan to kill him, advocating for alternative solutions.

In the climax against Beyond the Boundary, Mitsuki fights alongside her siblings and allies to subdue the youmu and its manipulator, Miroku Fujima. The revelation that Izumi harbors a youmu inside her body shocks Mitsuki and Hiroomi, leading to Izumi's departure and Mitsuki's ascension as co-head of the Nase clan alongside Hiroomi. Her emotional growth culminates in *Mirai-hen*, where she tearfully embraces Mirai after the latter's return from within Beyond the Boundary, demonstrating a vulnerability previously masked by her reserved nature.

Mitsuki possesses the Nase family's signature Glaciate Barriers ability, which creates defensive or offensive enclosures against youmu. Though less skilled than Izumi or Hiroomi, she relies on her pet rodent-like youmu, Yakiimo, for combat support. Her powers wane temporarily during the Calm but return after Beyond the Boundary's defeat.

Her relationships define key aspects of her development: with Akihito, she balances her duty as his observer with genuine friendship, often providing rational advice and displaying visible concern for his safety. With Mirai, she evolves from cautious oversight to deep camaraderie, defending her against familial suspicions and celebrating her return. With Hiroomi, she shares a bond marked by playful bickering and mutual reliance, frequently uniting to tease Akihito but showing unwavering loyalty in crises. The exposure of Izumi's secrets strains but does not break their sibling dynamic, as Mitsuki steps into a leadership role to uphold the clan's responsibilities.
