Description
Ubaune, also known as Dame Dedtime, functions as the primary antagonist. Originating in the Sengoku period, she lived as a human named Otoki. Falsely accused of breaking Shogun Waitington's precious clock, she suffered lifelong imprisonment for a crime she did not commit. This injustice fostered deep resentment, fueling her motivations upon becoming a Yo-kai. Her core drive became stealing human happiness and time, believing that since her own time was stolen, she would take others' in return.

In her base form, she manifests as a large, elderly woman with violet hair styled in a courtesan fashion, papery grey skin, and long greyish-blue nails. She wears regal orange and dark-green robes layered over each other, fastened by an obi, and a black haori lined in gold. She wields a cane topped with an hourglass orb, a conduit for her time powers. These powers include firing energy beams from the cane, generating "Wicked" Yo-kai minions, unleashing damaging sonic shouts, and employing time rewinding to heal herself during battles—an ability reliant on her subordinates Kin and Gin. Her signature phrase, "Dun dun duuuun!", punctuates her declarations.

Her antagonism centers on severing bonds between humans and Yo-kai. She orchestrates the theft of the protagonist’s Yo-kai Watch to erase memories of Yo-kai and manipulates events to prevent the watch’s creation 60 years earlier. She incites conflict between the Yo-kai factions Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls and unleashes a "Dedcloud" to spread despair, transforming Springdale into a future overrun by mind-controlled humans and Wicked Yo-kai.

Upon defeat, she transforms using absorbed human energies or negative emotions. Her first evolved state, Dame Demona (Subete Ubaune), features a serpentine fuchsia body, four arms, and a monstrous visage with red eyes. This form amplifies her destructive goals, shifting her aim to claim "everything." A distinct variant, Anto Subete Ubaune, appears in spin-off media as a dark advocate clad in thorny black and purple attire, aiming to drain hope from a fantasy kingdom.

Her character arc concludes with redemption in "Psychic Specters." Imprisoned in the Infinite Inferno during a film project, she recounts her past. Evidence surfaces—a comb entrusted to the protagonist and a time-travel journey—revealing her lover Senkichi awaited her return. This revelation shatters her hatred; she weeps, transforming into Dame Deartime (Kireina Ubaune). Her appearance softens: lily-colored hair replaces violet, facial shadows fade, and her expression turns gentle. Redeemed, she remains in the Inferno, urging the protagonist to befriend formerly wicked Yo-kai.
