Movie
Description
Master Nyada is an elderly cat Yo-kai with bronze fur, drooping eyes, and sparse mustache hairs beneath his nose. His inner ears glow light indigo, while dark brown splotches dot his body, contrasting his white muzzle and paw tips. Purple flames perpetually engulf his tail. He dons a dull green robe and wields a wooden staff-cane.
This Yo-kai channels "The Hose"—a mystical energy parodying *Star Wars*' The Force—through a physical hose object. Despite his age and rapid exhaustion after exertion, he ranks among the most powerful Yo-kai, though his peak power lasts merely ten seconds. His abilities include dodging and countering attacks via "Use the Hose," boosting allies with "Hose Be With You" inspirits, and unleashing area damage with his "The Hose" Soultimate move. This technique originally manifested as lightning bolts but later shifted to blue flames. He can transform into a normal cat or a human alter ego named Nick Nack—a scruffy, thin man in an olive coat and cat-eared beanie.
In *Yo-kai Watch: The Movie* (adapting *Yo-kai Watch 2*'s events), Nate Adams, Nathaniel Adams, and allies seek Master Nyada’s training to battle Wicked Yo-kai. Found in a yard—diverging from the game’s Shopper’s Row—he briefly fights the Wicked. Later, in Dame Dedtime’s lair, he appears as a projection, guiding heroes to wield the Hose against a rewinding clock central to the antagonists’ plans.
Beyond the movie, he operates a memory store implying time-travel capabilities and mentors Yo-kai like Demuncher. He shares Nathaniel Adams’ admiration for superhero Moximous Mask. His trials for Nate/Katie in *Yo-kai Watch 2* are structured as "Nyada’s Trials" Parts IV-VI, directly referencing the original *Star Wars* trilogy’s numbering. His design and thematic role pay homage to Jedi Master Yoda.
