TV Special
Description
Yūma Toba stands among Towa High School's most popular students, particularly admired by female classmates for his gentlemanly conduct as a boys' basketball team member. Initially appearing aloof, he reveals deeper layers of strategic persistence in romance and emotional insight.

He develops feelings for team manager Tsubasa Sonokawa after noticing her diligence, sparking a sustained rivalry with teammate Aki Hidaka, whom Tsubasa initially prefers. Yūma openly acknowledges this competition, confronting Aki directly and refusing to concede. He employs calculated tactics to stay near Tsubasa, such as joining the sports festival committee when she participates and fabricating a fake relationship to ward off rivals, leveraging his social status purposefully.

His dynamic with Tsubasa blends playful teasing with authentic support. He might restrain her under pretexts like injury yet consoles her during emotional lows—such as comforting her on playground swings when she cries over Aki. There, he reassures her she can freely "take advantage" of his kindness, adapting fluidly to her needs. He tests boundaries through ambiguous remarks and touch, which Tsubasa often views as manipulation.

Yūma detects subtle shifts in Tsubasa’s behavior, like her avoidance of Aki and new manager Hina. He voices her unspoken anxieties about their closeness, positioning himself as a confidant. His persistence surfaces when he insists on accompanying Tsubasa through personal struggles despite her resistance.

Academically, he shares Class 1-6 with Tsubasa and Ran Mikazuki in their second year; Ran openly pursues him. His popularity complicates club activities when prospective female members join the basketball team solely for him, leading him to redirect them to the girls' team.

His arc transitions from superficial charm to strategic courtship, balancing opportunism with genuine emotional support. He remains a steadfast rival in the central love triangle, adapting tactics to Tsubasa’s evolving relationships and emotional challenges.
