Description
His personality blends energetic enthusiasm in combat with cautious strategic thinking. He frequently emphasizes mastering street fighting fundamentals, often shouting "basics" during battles, believing contemporary fighters neglect martial arts' core principles. This wariness leads him to distrust potential threats, like preventing Bunwa Kaku from approaching Sousou.

Despite an official C-class ranking early on, his formidable combat skills allow him to challenge Special A-ranked fighters. He first meets Hakufu Sonsaku after she aids him against knife-wielding opponents; they bond over shared respect for fighting ethics before parting. His fighting style prioritizes precision, exemplified when he paralyzes Hakufu by systematically targeting her legs.

A pivotal moment occurs when Koshaji stabs Kakōton in the eye. This injury triggers Sousou's dragon spirit, resulting in Koshaji's death. Kakōton later mourns Kakuka's demise, reminiscing about their ordinary pre-conflict lives. He reluctantly accepts orders to attack Nanyo Academy, insisting on executing missions his own way to avoid burdening Sousou further.

His loyalty faces severe tests as Sousou becomes consumed by his dragon spirit. After facilitating Unchou Kan'u's escape to protect Sousou from destructive influences, Kakōton confronts his possessed friend. Their battle reveals Sousou's controlling spirit, leaving Kakōton with a permanently disfigured hand. He then searches alone for his friend, reflecting on their past camaraderie with Kakuka.

Later, suffering memory loss alongside Housen Ryofu, he takes refuge in Kyoshou Academy's ruins. Rescued by Hakufu, they collaborate against threats like Myousai Kakouen, with Sousou eventually intervening. Injuries from prior battles later prevent him from tournament participation, though he provides material support to Hakufu for rescue missions. He experiences visions of Kakuka standing alongside Sousou, highlighting enduring emotional bonds.
