Description
Oruo Bozad, also spelled Oluo Bozado, served as a soldier in the Scout Regiment chosen by Captain Levi Ackerman for the elite Special Operations Squad. He achieved a high Titan kill record of 48 kills, with 39 accomplished solo, ranking him among the squad's most capable fighters behind Levi.
His appearance featured pronounced wrinkles, light brown hair styled in an undercut, and a cravat resembling Levi's attire, reflecting his deliberate imitation of the captain. This extended to adopting Levi's speech patterns and projecting a confident demeanor, which frequently caused friction with teammate Petra Rall. Despite projecting self-importance, his clumsiness—particularly biting his tongue while riding horses—undercut his attempts at intimidation.
During the 49th exterior scouting mission, Oruo dismissed Hange Zoë's proposal to capture a Titan for research, leading to a physical altercation where Hange chastised him for endangering the regiment's progress. Levi later saved Oruo from a Titan during this expedition, cementing Oruo's loyalty.
Assigned to safeguard Eren Jaeger during the Eve of the Counterattack arc, Oruo openly distrusted Eren's ability to control his Titan powers. When Eren accidentally transformed during training, Oruo immediately threatened lethal force, believing Eren had lost control. After realizing their overreaction, the squad bit their hands in a gesture of apology, mirroring Eren's transformation method.
In the 57th Exterior Scouting Mission, Oruo protected Eren during the Female Titan's assault. Despite initial confusion over Commander Erwin Smith's concealed plans, he adhered to Levi's orders to prioritize Eren's safety over engaging the Titan. After Gunther Schultz's death, Oruo, Eld Gin, and Petra Rall confronted the Female Titan in the forest. They coordinated attacks to blind it and sever its limbs, but the Titan regenerated and killed Eld and Petra. Enraged, Oruo attempted a fatal strike to its nape, but the Titan hardened the area, nullifying his attack. A Titan roundhouse kick killed him.
Oruo's legacy persisted in the memories of surviving comrades. Eren later acknowledged Oruo among those whose deaths resulted from his father's theft of the Founding Titan. During the Battle of Shiganshina, Erwin envisioned Oruo among fallen soldiers while questioning the meaning of their sacrifices. Hange Zoë invoked his memory when opposing Eren's genocidal plan, believing he would not condone global destruction. Upon Hange's death, Oruo appeared among deceased Scouts welcoming them. Levi ultimately saluted Oruo and other fallen comrades in a final vision, acknowledging their contributions.
