Description
Hibito Nanba, born September 17, 1996, shares his birthday with Hideo Nomo's no-hitter achievement. A childhood UFO sighting alongside his older brother Mutta ignited their shared ambition to become astronauts, with Hibito specifically vowing to land on the moon, cementing a pact between them. Known as the "Samurai Boy" in America due to his popularity, Hibito displays exceptional talent and resolve in his astronaut pursuit. Contrasting Mutta's personality, Hibito exhibits a more playful and lighthearted demeanor alongside unwavering confidence in his path, declaring becoming an astronaut the only certainty in his life. His journey took him to JAXA and then NASA for training to become the first Japanese astronaut on the moon.

Hibito maintains a supportive bond with Mutta, frequently encouraging him to rediscover his own astronaut dream after Mutta faced professional setbacks. While training in Houston, Hibito adopted a pug named Apo. His career encountered a severe challenge when a near-fatal incident during a lunar mission, where he nearly exhausted his oxygen supply and required emergency rescue, resulted in PTSD. This manifested as panic attacks triggered by spacesuit use.

Recovery involved confronting his anxiety through specialized training in Russia, where he earned the nickname "Hibichov." Despite these struggles, Hibito remained committed to returning to space and eventually resumed active astronaut duties. His arc reflects resilience in overcoming profound obstacles while honoring his childhood promise. Hibito also plays the guitar during social gatherings.
