Description
Gengo Kuramitsu commands the Free Pact Alliance warship *Cygnus*. This 38-year-old captain possesses black hair, brown eyes, and distinctive creases beneath them. He wears the Alliance's standard white captain's uniform with gold collar rimming and black shoes.

Kuramitsu maintains remarkable calm and a laid-back demeanor under pressure, even during combat, swiftly making tactical decisions. However, he becomes visibly annoyed when battles stray from his plans and displays a fierce aversion to losing, willingly taking high risks for victory. His strong security consciousness led him to order Vice-Captain Lene Kleinbeck to eliminate Aoba Watase if Aoba attempted to abandon the *Cygnus* at Narashino Base. He dislikes desk work and administrative duties.

As a tactician, he exhibits exceptional strategic abilities. Kuramitsu rapidly recognizes critical situations and formulates effective responses, often favoring his own judgment over crew advice—demonstrated when he sent the untrained Aoba into battle against recommendations, securing victory. His tactical record remains unblemished, having never lost any of the six ships he commanded since training school. He effectively utilizes available resources but prioritizes personal assessment in critical moments.

Kuramitsu plays a pivotal role in key events. After Aoba appeared on the battlefield demonstrating compatibility with Dio Weinberg's Valiancer, Kuramitsu ordered their immediate coupling despite Aoba's unknown background. When superiors later instructed Aoba's elimination, Kuramitsu instead brought him aboard the *Cygnus* for questioning. During severe damage from Alfred Gallant's attack, he again deployed Aoba, ensuring their survival. He formally enlisted Aoba as an Ensign and Luxon's pilot upon Aoba's voluntary return from Narashino.

His leadership evolves in handling Aoba and Dio's contentious relationship. Initially surprised by their poor compatibility affecting coupling, he later accepts their dynamic, often smiling at their antics. When Dio disobeyed orders to search for Aoba lost in a storm, Kuramitsu granted a three-hour window and later advised Lene against harsh punishment after their success. During the Hawaii Base incident, he released both from detention during an attack, acknowledging their persistent disagreements. In critical battles, like the defense against Zogilia's Gorgon superweapon, he authorized deployment of the upgraded Luxon Next and Bradyon Next Valiancers.

Kuramitsu places considerable trust in his crew, particularly relying on Vice-Captain Lene Kleinbeck for operational execution. He demonstrates leniency toward subordinates' unconventional methods when justified by results.
