He later favored her music awards attendance over addressing a fresh Demon Seed threat, banking on forecasted weather to prevent the attack. When Maron left the ceremony to engage Demon Seed, ensuing battle damage drew public condemnation toward him.

His collaboration with Dr. Ryouhei Shimokobe frayed over clashing agendas; Shimokobe resisted prioritizing Maron’s singing over her anti-crime duties. Hattori nurtured a steadfast bond with Maron, celebrated by a group photo at her graduation—a moment Shimokobe interrupted. The character took partial inspiration from Masami Yuki’s then-current manga editor.
