Saranda Arabis (sometimes spelled Aramis) appears solely in the "Black and White" episode of the Black Jack OVA. This human female possesses brown hair and grey eyes. Her life centers around family: she is the daughter of crime boss Patterson and the mother of Karen Arabis/Aramis, afflicted by the hereditary heart defect Tetralogy of Fallot.

Saranda desperately seeks medical aid for Karen within a war-torn region. Patterson orchestrates Black Jack's intervention to save his granddaughter. The surrounding armed conflict intensifies Saranda's despair as she witnesses Karen's critical condition amid chaos and violence, contributing to her psychological decline marked by profound hopelessness and a loss of will to live.

Following Black Jack's successful field hospital surgery on Karen, the group relocates to New York. There, Patterson is shot during an incident. In the immediate aftermath, consumed by accumulated despair and trauma from nearly losing both daughter and father, Saranda attempts suicide using a Walther PP pistol, signifying her complete emotional collapse.
