Description
Yuuno Scrya, born in 0056 on Midchilda, belonged to the Scrya clan of nomadic archaeologists. Orphaned young, he grew up under the clan's communal care yet often felt isolated, fostering self-reliance and dedication to archaeology. During an excavation, he discovered the powerful Lost Logia known as Jewel Seeds. When the Time-Space Administration Bureau (TSAB) lost these artifacts over Earth during transport, Yuuno journeyed alone to retrieve them.
Initially wielding the Intelligent Device Raising Heart, Yuuno found himself incompatible with its bombardment focus, limited to guest-user access for search and sealing. Injured confronting a Jewel Seed monster on Earth, he transformed into a ferret to conserve energy and avoid human notice. In this form, he telepathically contacted Nanoha Takamachi, a local girl with latent magic potential, who rescued him. Recognizing Nanoha's superior combat aptitude, Yuuno entrusted Raising Heart to her, becoming her magic instructor and partner in recovering the Jewel Seeds. Throughout this mission, he provided defensive support and barrier management while concealing his human identity, leading to humorous misunderstandings until his revelation in episode 8.
During the Book of Darkness threat in *A's* and *The MOVIE 2nd A's*, Yuuno assisted in the confrontation. He aided Fate Testarossa's legal defense with the TSAB before returning to Uminari City to fight the Linker Core-draining Wolkenritter. His role centered on support magic: creating defensive barriers, healing allies, and attempting to dispel enemy spells like Vita's *Gefängnis der Magie*. His defenses proved exceptionally resilient; he endured Vita's assaults that overwhelmed Nanoha, even while multitasking. Concurrently, he resumed his ferret form, living with Nanoha's family.
By the *A's* epilogue six years later, Yuuno served as Chief Librarian of the TSAB's Infinity Library. Now wearing glasses and sporting a ponytail tied with Nanoha's ribbon, he specialized in researching Lost Logia and managing vast information networks. His multitasking allowed him to process numerous texts simultaneously, a critical skill for his role. He maintained close friendships with Nanoha and Fate, though romantic developments with Nanoha did not occur.
In *StrikerS*, Yuuno appeared sparingly, consulting on Relic auctions and providing research assistance like investigating the Saint's Cradle. His combat involvement ceased entirely, shifting to academic duties. Cameos in *ViVid* depicted him at the Infinity Library, where Vivio Takamachi and her friends sought information. Across alternate continuities like *Reflection* and *Detonation*, his support-oriented role remained consistent, though film adaptations reduced his screen time.
Yuuno specializes in non-aggressive magic as a Force Field Mage, excelling in barriers, teleportation, healing, and sensory spells. Defensive spells like *Round Guarder* and *Steel Defense* proved impervious to most on-screen attacks, with rare exceptions in supplementary materials. He also demonstrated mass teleportation and localized time-altering fields. Despite his A-rank status and aerial combat proficiency, he lacks conventional offensive magic, relying on bindings or physical counters like *Protection Smash* for restraint. This focus, combined with his absence of a personal Device post-Raising Heart, underscores his tactical and scholarly disposition.
